Yep. That describes very well what I do all day.
And from the clouds a mighty voice spoke: "Smile and be happy, for it could come worse!"
And I smiled and was happy And it came worse.

Everything that works won't when you try to show someone, but the reverse is also true, so showing someone a broken program is a valid way of fixing it (only in their presence though).

Thats what happens to me most of the time. When I am tetsing it, it seems working perfectly fine but the minute that I am showing the programme to someone else BOOM a bug or program crashes.. hate when it happens.. seems like i need to improve my testing skills

I absolutely refuse to code when my wife is in one of her "moods." The bad vibes tend to jiggle all my linked lists.

If, on the first compile, you have no errors or warnings then DO NOT RUN IT. Check that code with a fine-toothed comb! The bug (and there IS a bug) is massive database destroying, hard-disk wiping, power-supply blowing superbug.

We in the office fear as hell Mercury-retrograde periods. There have been several such periods where we notice things like to fail at the same time (like 4 remote machines dying because of completely unrelated causes on the same day, or two Raid5 clusters losing two drives simultaneously!)
Odd indeed...

Hello all,
I'm looking for a keyboard that could be placed far away from the computer (futher than the 16feet that the USB allows).
That computer has USB only, no PS/2 port there... and wireless is not an option due to the batteries, I can't afford the batteries to be depleted from time to time as this keyboard will be controlling a critical system.
That keyboard must have a touchpad (like a laptop).
After searching a lot I've seens some interesting things, but nothing that would not mean to put some USB hubs between the PC and the keyboard.
I've seen some things like:
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/k750-keyboard[^] Interesting as it is solar and I don't have to worry about the batteries.
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/wireless-touch-keyboard-k400[^] Interesting as it has the big touchpad but not interesting as it works only in batteries...
And USB extenders scare me as I'm not sure if a keyboard with touchpad will be handled correctly by those extenders...
Any comment or experience that you would like to share?
Thank you in advance!

You need something along the lines of a USB repeater or USB Booster.
Check the first two product listed http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=usb+repeater+booster&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=10037854861&ref=pd_sl_1tts96ns7u_b

Why not have a second computer and VNC into your main computer from a keyboard connected to the second computer..?
That way you can be as far away from your main computer as needed...

Why?
I think a USB extender is your best bet. Have you tried using just a long USB cable without an extender? It might work anyway.
How far away are you and where is the screen going to be located? Near the keyboard presumably. If so, maybe use a screen which has a USB hub in it.
Also, why not just RDP into it from your local box?

If the USB extenders comply with the USB spec (you do have to be careful, there are many out there that don't), it should be fine.

Oh for FFS, number 8? WTF!? "Once you get the hang of it", translation - after spending 8 hours a day, for several years, you may be able to type at hunt and peck speeds, but you'd probably be better served learning to self operate with a spoon and a blindfold. Gag me with a controller!

You can get USB over cat 5 adaptors for only a few bucks. Bits are bits so it shouldn't matter what is inside the USB packets being sprayed out.

If it's anything like it's small brother (dinovo mini) it comes with it's own adapter (I have one of those mini's so...), so you just leave it plugged into the power outlet and you have a wireless keyboard that never runs out of juice.
(you might have to check the range on the wireless tho and make sure it has it's own adapter)

Just making a new post so you guys can all see it. Regarding my previous question about MVC and asp.net I wish to thank you all for the advice and comments. I am going to seriously consider MVC as a possible replacement for our old Frankenstein. Thanks again for taking the time to give serious (and some not so serious but seriously funny) answers with minimal information provided. Have a great weekend. ME, I'm going to watch a few hours of tutorials
Let's face it, after Monday and Tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!
