For the record, up to 10% of your time Stooping could be a lot...
I keep imagining walking into a shared office, and the Big Biker Guy says
"Boy, you've got a pretty face"
and suddenly I realize that Stooping is slang...
and that the company health plan covering STDs is NO LONGER a POSITIVE...
as the door locks behind me... that 10% number seems like 4hrs a week of getting stooped...

This would make sense in my industry, and in fact might actually be less rigorous than required. Our products are commercial ink-jet printing systems, which include large presses. Operators wrangle rolls of paper that weigh several hundred pounds. The press itself has large, heavy components at or above head height. My group writes the software that controls the whole mess. Every so often we get to crawl around the thing trying to figure out why something's not right.
In other words, the ability to stoop/kneel/reach/stretch/lift/push/pull might be an appropriate part of the job description for a software developer.

That would be difficult because it is such a large state of change. Sitting for days on end, then crawling, stooping, kneeling. Sounds kind of painful.
I like the sitting part best.  75% is a low number for me.

I assume all the bending and stooping would be done while bowing and grovelling before the masters.

In today's CP newsletter is a mention of AdMob. That got me to thinking:
I personally hate ads, and do my best to avoid them. If they end up detracting me from the app itself, I remove the app and move on to the next one. No app is so great that I must endure the intrusion and interference that all ads cause just so I can use the app. I never knowingly click on ads. As a developer, I would never consider adding them to my app. So...
Do others feel this way? For the developers that do incorporate ads, are they actually making (enough) money in such a fashion that it overshadows the hassle that users must endure?
What are your thoughts?

If the choice is between making $0 and making $x where x > 0, lots of folks will go with x even if x is a trivial amount of money. They can also hide behind the anonymity of a company name. So they can just get a new name if their first company gets bad press.

And that's it. I honestly agree with both: I hate ads but if I'd publish a free app I would put them anyway.

I agree, mobile ads should be banned. The developers who put all that time and effort into creating and supporting those apps should do it all for free because I have an unrealistic perception of the industry. After all, I work for free too...when my boss pointed out that all I was doing was "writing some if statements" I withdrew my annoying invoices and now instead of food I eat my sense of civic duty and rather than petrol I fuel my car with Google Play reviews.

They could sell the App instead of the ads. I haveca few Apps I would happily pay for but it is not an option.
I can pay to remove the ads but don't know if I have to pay for each existing or replacement device I have.,

what I don't like is they "target" these ads and still present stupid shite ...
take one look a review of the latest star wars and you're ofen targeted to buy mickey mouse night lights because you looked at a disney product. (don't ever google "last longer" ....)
and if you buy the damn product it doesn't stop asking you to buy another one.
(Even Amazon does that ... "hey did you enjoy that screwdriver you just bought, look what we have for you right now, a screwdriver!!!")
If they made ads less stupid, more relevant and better timed maybe I'd look ... or not ... when I want something I'll ask.

If you're using Windows, the simplest way to deal with most of that is to add a few entries into your hosts file and redirect the major ad services to 0.0.0.0. Even their tracking scripts don't work after that unless they hard-coded their IP address and who does that anymore? It's that or get a script blocking browser add-on. Problem solved.

Instead of maintaining your own hosts file yourself, have a look at Pi-Hole.
It's a DNS server you can install on a tiny Linux machine (originally intended for the RasPI, but it'll work in a small Linux VM). It'll block anything it recognizes as an ad server, plus you're free to blacklist/whitelist your own.
The benefit over maintaining your own hosts file is that once you've changed your router settings so it points to it, ads won't even make it to any device on your LAN. Windows, Linux, OS X, Android, iOS, game console, whatever.
Installation is practically a one-liner, so even if you can barely figure out how to install Linux in a VM, you should be able to get it going.

As user, I can tolerate ads. After all, in some cases, the apps are great stuff I've got for free.

Depends.
Some ads are worth allowing - CP for example exists only because of ad revenues, so I have the site whitelisted.
But apps with ads is different - it depends to an extent how good the app is and how intrusive the ads.
If you ad small ads that don't distract me from the app, and the app is a good 'un, then I'll pay to remove them - I think of it as a "shareware trial version". If the app is cr@p, or the ads get in the damn way then I'll review the app, say why it's rubbish so others are warned, and uninstall it.
But the ad supported model is a good way to try an app out and see if the coder has any idea what he's doing: far too many are obviously there just for ad revenue and to heck with the actual app!
