Many, many years ago, when I was doing my first internship in a big company, we got a new manager who in the first meeting told us that "in the next couple of years CASE (Computer-aided software engineering) tools will make software developers redundant and that we should focus in other aspect of IT if we wanted to stay in the field. users will be able to model their requirements and the tools will write the software for then.". Even though I was 20, I was smart enough to understand how stupid this guy was, that CASE tools were a fad and started searching for a new job that same day. Within 2 months I was out of there. 24 years later, me and several millions around the world still have a decent paying job developing software.
Thinking that, in the near future, AI "something" will be able to replace humans in such a complex stuff as developing software fall withing the same realm of stupidity IMHO.
I usually skip the 2gun matches on InRange, mostly I watch their tests (wandering zero, barrel heating, mud tests) and their discussions.
I'm a gun nut but I prefer actually shooting rather than watching someone else do it unless it is an historical piece or I'm trying to figure out something about some gun I wish to buy (i.e if Hickok45 has difficulties controlling a particular weapon then it's probably better for me to avoid it).
It would be nice if youtube could show a message "we are down" instead of an error message. I thought it was a problem with my device or internet connection and tried to trouble shoot on all my devices before finding it out from internet.
I've got serious problems with damn ever-updating Windows 10 on my private laptop, so if I only need to write a 3-line-notice-that-insurance-letter that I don't want to write on my business desktop, I won't boot my laptop for it. I do it on the phone and print it right away. That's really faster than having that laptop pulling updates half an hour before I can start using it.
It's really free, but pushes everything on OneDrive. And it doesn't have as many features as the desktop version - which you really don't need on your phone (and 99.999 % of times on your desktop neither).
I'm also doing some Excel for calculating e.g. our house building costs. Works fine. Don't need to start the laptop for entering “123.45 € for screws“.
By the way: does ANYONE really pay for Office 365 for private use? For what I'm doing most times Wordpad is sufficient - and if not there's always Office online and / or the apps. For those mentioned 3-line-letters or that tiny Excel sheet collecting costs prices for Office are WAY too high, IMO.
