Today I took some more pictures of the Huey. I need them because now it's time to order some decals to finally finish the job. Well, almost.

The landing gear is all wrong, not very miny details, almost no windows and look what they did with the front window with its mounting brim and very visible screws to hold it in place!
Well, I have not installed any windows yet, but at least i have a complete set. Since my last post I have corrected countless places where the paint ran under the masking tape and painted on the bigger markings with the help of custom paint masks. And most of the parts are now installed.

You know what? I still am not happy. Even in sunlight the details are not very visible. The new markings already help, just as the decals will, but it's still a big, mostly green thing.
I have stolen a great idea from the guys who build model tanks. They have the same problem. A tank is a big green thing and the details of the model just disappear. So what do they do? They paint on 'dirt' or fade the paint with strongly thinned oil paint. I gave it a first try by painting dark shadows into the lines of the doors, the rails of the side doors and some air slits. It was not easy to do because it's the exact opposite of what I did up to now. No more masking and working cleanly. Now I'm deliberately messing it up almost randomly.
Takes a little to get used to, but it looks promising. After the decals are on, I'm going to do my best to get rid of that boring pristine look.

Charlie don't surf! , I don't know if it would work, I had success with Hawker Typhoon painted it up glossy & perfect, then went over it with some rusty steel wool in some area around the chin air intake the paint was thin scuffed it off then went to work with a Steel Effect magic marker. Worked quite well...

No, Charlie don't surf. Especially not with a gunship. I printed a surfboard, but there is not enough room for it between the landing skids and the rocket launchers.
Weathering with oil paints only works if you have used acrylic paint up to then. Acrylics are not affected by the generous amount of thinner you have to apply. With enamels this would turn into a smeared mess. Take a look: [^][^]

you don't have to use lots of thinners for weathering effects with oil. I've used oil weathering on oil "top" coat with good effect on railway models. Use a small amount of paint on the brush, and put 99% of it onto a bit of scrap card, so the brush has almost no paint left; then use a stipple technique. Practice, practice, practice first though on anything but Huey!

Thanks! I already have been practicing on a piece of cardboard which I decoratedbwith some lines of rivets, some panels and of cours a spray of the Huey's green paint. My results are not always subtle enough yet, so I guess I need some more practice. Simple things, like that pin wash of the doors yesterday already go quite well and also bringing out the Huey's 15+ meters of rivets with a brownish wash should be no problem.

Looks great! If you want to vary the finish a bit further you might try using different clear coats over the top - gloss, matt or combinations

I reinstalled my laptop, did a complete format of all my partitions and created them anew.
The first thing that I thought was really weird is that the installer told me to sign in with my ex-employers work account (I bought this laptop from them).
I mean, how would a fresh install know this is a laptop from my ex-employer?
I never had any problems with this laptop, it all started when it was reinstalled a little over a week ago.
It just doesn't boot correctly.
The first time I boot nothing happens, I just see black screen and after a minute or so the keyboard lights up until it goes idle.
After turning it off and on again the Dell logo shows up and... Nothing happens again.
After turning it off and on a second time the Dell logo shows up again and after way too many seconds a spinning icon appears and Windows starts up (total startup time about two mintes!).
And now, after a clean install, it still does that!
It could be a hardware problem, although the hardware diagnostic tool said everything was fine.
Besides, the hardware didn't change, it just got reinstalled.
But it doesn't seem to be a software problem either as it was wiped twice and it somehow persists over multiple boots.
I just don't understand how it boots differently three times, but always in that same pattern!? 
When it's booted everything works fine.
Even a regular restart (without turning it off completely) works fine, about 10 seconds boot time.
This is by far the weirdest issue I've ever encountered and it taught me one thing: I know absolutely nothing about computers 
The ultimate question, of course, what's wrong and how can I solve it?

Did you download a new OS ISO, or did you use the backup restore disks? If the latter, maybe it is a custom build for that company?

I used some Windows tool, which I presume downloaded a new ISO (it downloaded long enough anyway).
But perhaps it still took something from a restore disk anyway?

I would try the following:
- Go into the BIOS, and ensure that it has no odd settings (BIOS password, device boot order, etc.)
- Get a thumb drive (8 GB or more)
- Go to another Windows 10 computer and download the Windows Media Creator
- Run this, and create a Windows 10 installation thumb drive
Make sure that you download a version for which you have a license (e.g. don't download Windows Pro if your license is for Windows Home) - Use this to boot your computer
- Install Windows from scratch (including a format and repartition of the hard drive)
- Open File Explorer, Right-click on "This PC" in the left-hand window, and select "Properties".
- Scroll to the bottom of the window. On the right, you will see an option to change the product key. Click this, and enter your new product key
This should overwrite your employer's record of Windows in the BIOS and in Microsoft's servers. - Lastly, go to Dell's site, download their tool that updates all Dell drivers, and run that to get their latest stuff.

Some sort of bios password?
Suggest a reset - remove the CMOS battery for a bit to reset. Might also check for Dell bios updates while you're at it - I've had good results (er, with desktops anyway) with their updates.
[edit] And since you're investing some time here, strongly suggest swapping in an SSD before the next install [/edit]

On laptops' hard drives, there are often hidden partitions; could it be possible that you only wiped partition(s) which could be seen?
I'm using Ultimate Boot CD when I want to have a rather precise clue about how a disk has been partitioned. Maybe you could gain some knowledge about your issue from it?

Are you using a corporate volume license or an OEM key when you install Windows 10?
Windows 10 Professional or Enterprise?

Been there done that - bought a grey market licence to get around w10s draconian licencing. I'd bet the hard disk id is registered with MS somewhere and it references that to determine the owner. I would consider getting a new SSD as your primary drive, that may allow you to do a clean install.

Or press the "Go" button, then go and start making coffee/grab a newspaper and read a paragraph and a half of a story that interests you/look at a Rubik's cube, twist it twice, then put it down/anything else that will keep you busy for this Huge amount of time.
It's two minutes. I imagine that you might have somewhat more pressing issues to spend your time on.
