The Lounge is rated Safe For Work. If you're about to post something inappropriate for a shared office environment, then don't post it. No ads, no abuse, and no programming questions. Trolling, (political, climate, religious or whatever) will result in your account being removed.
As you get older it is inevitable that you hate your former naivete and stickers they give you to put of your office door that won't come off easily.
I already do
I'm self taught and I've worked with plenty very bad programmers who had formal education and/or certificates.
The number of certificates or degrees doesn't mean anything if you can't put it into practice.
Some people can cram all the dry facts into their head, but they couldn't write Hello World if their life depended on it.
The reason I started getting certified is because at the time my employer wanted it and I got a raise if I got one.
Now I do it because the market demands them, or at least favors you if you have them.
There is good and fun knowledge to be found in the preparation materials though, so studying isn't completely horrible.
I usually study for them exam, but never actually take the exam
A couple of messages below I made mention that that my messages go into moderation. As a result several members apparently checked my messages and I got a number of upvotes! Nice! This was totally unexpected and I thank all kind members involved. I suddenly feel very warm and welcome!

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.
