I don't mind working from home - I have the house to myself (except for the pugs, who sleep all day). I have worked from home several times, since I live in Florida and have worked (remote) in Iowa, Virginia, and a company about 40 miles away. I agree with the precept of dressing for work, and no non-work interruptions (no TV, Pandora playing, dedicated work-only laptop). Since the first of the year medical reasons make work from home almost mandatory.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, navigate a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Back from FAT testing last week spent the day updating JIRA tickets with results and playing with the camera that was bought for taking photo evidence. Using the basic interface it is just acceptable, As it is a web camera rather than a DSLR we can't use the recommended DigiCamControl. It is an Anran 'AN 80-F' I have been using the iSpy 64 software which gets around most of the issues we were seeing. I was wondering if there were any better options you know of...
Today, I logged into my laptop running Ubuntu 18.04.4 with no problem.
Then I stepped away and the screen locked and after that I couldn't successfully log in again.
I checked caps lock, etc and it is none of that.
I've looked up solutions and there does seem to be a problem with it not accepting your password.
I think it may have an old password as root so I can't get into root either.
I am effectively locked out of my Ubuntu laptop and I'm typing this from a Ubuntu desktop and wondering if this will happen in the future.
There are many solutions online and they all require logging in as root or getting logged in at the command line but Ubuntu won't allow me to log in at all on that laptop.
I guess it is a brick until I wipe it.
How could I ever trust Ubuntu again??? EDIT
I am an idiot. Somehow I've been typing my password for 2 weeks without actually knowing my password!!! URGH!!!!
I finally figured out the one character I typed improperly. OY!!!!
I'm so stupid.
Apparently I haven't had the problem either.
Thanks so much. Somehow I've literally been typing my password for weeks without actually knowing it. I was one character off today and couldn't get it. Yes, I'm obviously senile and a savant at the same time, because I can type a password incorrectly for weeks then not know it.
