I laugh only because it hurts so much, today I began hassling Miele to foot the $600+ bill for the replacement of the pressure valve on my 28 month old dishwasher. Warranty is 24 months. Don't give me any bullshit about Miele quality.

It's a relatively new fridge. The don't make anything like they usta.
This exact thought crossed my mind a few weeks ago when I had to meet a repairman at our rental house. The 5 y/o refrigerator uses (probably common) the freezer to cool both the freezer and refrigerator parts using a little solenoid actuated trap door system to regulate the temp in the refrigerator. When that doodad fails, the freezer runs overtime trying to cool the fridge, frosting itself up like crazy while the fridge stays warm.
300 bucks later as I'm driving away, I remembered the old 1940's fridgidaire that my grandparents kept in the garage that required chipping out about once a year, but was still doing it's job over 70 years later...probably still is.
So much for us being a first-world country. Seventy-ish years later and the overall quality of our products is less than what it used to be. But hey, at least your car can auto-park itself, you can see the contents of your refrigerator without opening the door, your car's transmission is now button activated (rather than lever activated), etc. I'm all for technology, but it's evident we are replacing basic quality with fun & cool gadgets. The latter should enhance the longevity of whatever the item is, not replace it.

I don't trust ice-makers. I prefer to just use ice trays. I also get a feeling of accomplishment when I fill them up to ensure I have a good supply of ice. When I was a kid, we had a set of these[^] at home.
Why not skip the disgusting cockroaches entirely and feed the exes to the tigers instead?

Absolutely, all the weird chemicals and other crap humans directly put in their bodies they're just not a healthy food source.
... add in that 'top of the food chain is where all the weird stuff accumulates' it'd be safer to feed them swordfish.
