Hi,
I am running my embedded C++ program on a Standard SDK emulator on my PC. If I want to create a file with my program, is it possible to create the file on my PC harddisk. When i create the file in the emulator, where is the location of the file?

the file will be created inside the emulator. the files in CE start at the root
the root is the windows directory
\windows\folder\file
use the file explorer in the emulator by going to start\programs\file explorer

I'm in the same quest!
I've gotten as far as creating the file in the emulator and browising it with the file explorer.
I've a similar need but backwards, I need to load a bitmap template file that I can reuse many times, however I have not been able to figure out how to copy a file to the emulator workarea so that it gets loaded everytime I deploy the app to the device and the doc is very skimpy or my eyesight is looking at the wrong docs...
anywho: sorry but that's as far as I am for now....

after reviewing my answer, I did some more research and found out that if you want the file to be copied to the handheld everytime you use the emulator all you have to do is copy the file into the project and then right click on the file at the solution explorer and select the build /content which is the default, i believe....
anywho, after that your file will always be loaded into the emulator whenever you want to test your program....

Hi,
I'm trying to establish a serial port between my iPaq and a Bluetooth
device.
When i call to CreateFile() with COM8(this is the only port which let me to choose the remote device i want to connect to,with the Bluetooth manager),
the connection i get is ActiveSync connection and not generic serial connection.
How can i get a generic serial connection?

all,
i want to synchronize data to my Pocket PC(phone edition) from my Nokia mobile phone(syncML compliant) using SyncML via bluetooh. i don't know how to start this.
any body tell me in detail, how to work on this and what are all the steps that i need to take to work on this to sync my address book, phone book, and other details to my pcoket pc.
suggestions or any ideas are most welcome.

Hi,
I'm trying to write a VB application using VB.net that runs on hand held devices that runs Windows CE. The objective of the application is to retrieve general performance counter from the OS and transfers it over a central server through the network. On a regular XP or Windows 2000 Professional it's very easy to retrieve performance data by using WMI. I haven't figured out what APIs or other ways to gather performance data from Windows CE. Does anyone have any ideas?

The problem is: when an extern Message appears(such as the one that advises me that I'm connecting or disconnecting to the pc) , when this Message disappears the Dialog is redrawn
"over" the other, but starting from the point under the first
taskbar, with the result that all the form seems to be moved down and I get double "mytaskbar".
I'm asking: what event exactly happens when an extern Message comes over my dialog? where can I write the code to build again my dialog when a Message appears?

Salve,
I'm a developer and I write applications in visual c++ (using eVc++ 4.0) for a Dolphin 9500 . In order to scan barcodes I need to use the functions waConnect(), waDefaultSymbology(), waDisableSymbology(), waEnableSymbology(), waWaitForDecode() and waDisconnect().
I had to include in my project the external dependencies engnapi.h and wadecodece.lib and everything seems to work.
The problem comes out when I try to compile for Debug: the compiler asks for two files: HHPSCANINTERFACE.DLL and WADECODECE.DLL. Both this files are unfoundable for me.
I often need to debug my program, and I really need to solve this problem, have you got any suggestion? Where can I find these files?
(Note: I cannot use ScanWedge to scan my barcodes, so I HAVE TO use the functions written above)

i wanted to develop an application for my pcoket pc. Application should understand all the phone models and sync data between the BT paired mobile phones.
I am new to this Bluetooth technology. Any body tell me how to start and develop application using bluetooh technology ?
What are all the bluetooh standards to syncronize data like address book, phon book info and also accept and reject calls from my pcoket pc to control my mobile phone.
any ideas, resources and suggestions are most welcome.

Hi,
What is your target device?
If your device is iPaq,it has Widcomm Stack so you can't using MS function,
but you can use CreateFile() with COM8 and it will open your BlueTooth manager to do the pairing.
If you has MS stack,you can use MS function(WSALookupServiceBegin() etc.).

Hi All,
I have created COM Server(EXE)using Embedded VC++ 4 and able to Register it on WinCE emulator.
Now my client is on Desktop ,but when i call CoCreateInstance and try to create Instance of Component,it fails the HRESULT returned is
"CXX0033:error in OMF type Information"
I need to instantiate the component from Desktop,is it possible?

hi all,
i am a newbie to pocket pc programming. i am using eMbedded VC++ 4.0. i have a simple WCE Pocket Pc application that has a dialog box. inside this dialog box i have 2 edit boxes (name and age) and one combo box (sex). there are 2 buttons in this dialog box submit and cancel. what the user is expected to do is enter his/her name, age and select either male or female from the combo box and then press submit. when the submit button is pressed the contents should be entered in a text file.
i dont know what is the code to enter/populate the comboxbox and enter the selected data (male or female) into the text file. I want this to be done in WIN32API. could anybody please help me out?

Hi all,
I am developing a vb.net app for a CE4.2 PC device. I'm looking for a method of licensing the software. I would like to use the MAC address and some cryptography to license the software to a given CEPC. (The CEPC we use has the network adapter built in to the main board so no danger of network cards being swapped out). Problem is, I cant find a way to get the MAC address from within the CompactFramework. I read about an IpHlpApi.dll function called GetAdaptersInfo but I have no idea how to P/Invoke or Marshal the Ref types in VB.net. Any suggestions or vb source code that would help???
