i'm not sure what you're currently doing, but let's say that the user selects a report from a drop down list, and when they click on the button, the application directs them to another page with the report. now what you can do is when that report page loads, get it to log the event.
i'm not sure what you're using, so let's see an example in c#:

reportId: some sort of identifier to say which report it is.
queryData: the data used in the query and to generate the report.
EventLogger: my event logging class
LogEvent: a static ("Shared" in vb.net i think) method that logs the event.

In TML there is character representation in form &#xxx. I can get hex value of the character but how to replace &#xxx with character, in VC++?

Well for thr RGB values ff = 255. Maybe it's the same with what you want?
(so AB would be 171 etc.)
To convert use the calculator in windows. You can enter a hex-value and then click on decimal. It couldn't be easier  .

i have the following DIV act like text editor and i want to make automatic line feed when the end of line end.
I need to achieve like textarea when user wrote a contious line an automatic line feed is generated , is this possible with div.

AFIK, no; DIV is a formatting element, not a user input. Use a TextBox control with the TextBoxMode property set to MultiLine and Wrap set to True. Set the Rows property to the number of lines you want displayed at one time, MaxLength to the maximum character count.

Hi,
I'm trying to respond to events fired from an ActiveX control embedded in an ASP.NET webform using client side script. I can successfully do this on a standard html page served from the same web site but when I transfer my script into my webform html it does not respond to the event. This is what my my test html page looks like...

I've also read "HOW TO: Host ActiveX Controls in a Web Form" on MSDN and tried the Javascript version without success. I've checked all my local security settings and made sure IE will allow ActiveX to interact with scripts (my tests are all on localhost).
The ActiveX control is one of mine but the fact that I can trap the event on a standard HTML page makes me think the problem is in my ASP.NET code.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

I'm using this regex to match trivial dates.
However
A12, Jan, 05 is matching...
Why is this happening...shouldn't the A12 fart and stop...
I thought the above would only match 12 and choke with the presence of an alpha character...???
What am I doing wrong...?

I updated to serve pack 2 on windows and now I cannot create a new web project of any kind. I get a server 500 error. I have tried searching msdn for this with no luck. I suspect it is security settings on IIs but anything I try doesn't help. I have also reinstalled all programs. Can anyone help.

Uninstall the sp2 it does all of this and more and also Norton security can do and some of the antivirus programs

Hi,

My questions is :
What is use of this technique as I think that XML file can not be generated dyanamically and if it can be generated that way then what about MYSQL?
I am not saying that this technique is useless, what I am asking is the use of this technique which I do not know?
Also,
Can you put me on the track for understanding and creating web services? I have gone through w3schools tutorials about SOAP but with that I could not write any web services.
When I google for web services there are lot of tutorials.
There are SOAP,REST etc don't know what they are.
I want to use PHP for web services.

How can i format datagrid.
i wants to display 5 records per page but if there is only 1 record for display than datagrid consumes same space as previously for 5 records. it looks very bed. how can i eliminate the same.

What I would do is count the number of records I received, subtract from the number of lines I want, and make that the number of blank lines the page needs to create after the last response.
5 total lines - 1 response = 4 blank lines
5 total lines - 5 responses = 0 blank lines
etc.
Just statically set the number of total lines to the ammount of space you want to take up.

Directly inside the onkeydown handler and no beans...???
I've tried event.preventDefault() and everything else...
Does firefox not support event cancelling in onkeydown or what the heck am I doing wrong???

is your server running windows or linux? i know that there is a really nice admin interface for linux machines called webmin. it works like a charm... otherwise, go and have a look at SourceForge.net[^] or Freshmeat (not sure of the url...)

Windows based. Any good recommendations?
Possibly something that can be extended. Not really necessary to be free, I don't mind paying for a good one.

unfortunately not, i run linux servers...
have you tried sourceforge.net? that has a large number of projects. go to the software map, and filter on windows. also just try punching some keywords into google i guess.
the other question is: what proxy server are you running?
one other problem i can think of is that most windows apps store their settings in the registry, and most web scripting languages don't have access to the registry. you'd probably have to look for an ASP.NET solution...

Hi All!
My company has a requirement, wherein we need to develop a web server which could server data to its clients in "real-time". For example, I need to create a web page for real time stock quotes, which is automatically updated as and when the quotes change. Can the server be designed such that it sends automatic updates to the client as and when the data changes, or does the client have to make an explicit "refresh"?
Since I am new to web development, could you please guide me about which tools/technologies can I best use for this purpose.

The server does not keep track of the user that makes the request. Since HTTP is stateless (make the request, get data back), it's nearly imposible to do it. The client will have to 'refresh' itself on an interval basis to pull back the latest data.
If the client is a web browser, you could implement some JavaScript that posts back to the server every couple seconds.

Your other option could be to implement the attritbute in your HTML page. THis will however cause the page to automatically refresh on the server every 5 seconds.
