Just saw one at the mall. That's one sweet setup.

At the office - i use dual 19" monitors
at the home - i use three 19" monitors
I Will NEVER go back to a single monitor setup,
the screen realestate is just FAR too much -
and the best thing is the impact when a customer
walks into the office, they are blown away.

at home I'm using a 17' CRT, at work dual 17' LCD.. and I have to admit, using 2 monitors gives you quite a lot more space to work with, if just the monitor's borders wouldn't be annoying sometimes
I don't know what I'd decide for if I could afford either a bigger monitor (LCD or CRT) or a dual monitor configuration.. 3 monitors is a bit blasted for my personal use

At the office I use dual 19" CRT running 1600 x 1200
At home I have 19" 1600 x 1200 and 17" 1280 x 1024 (another 19" is on its way)
Never going back to single display!

LCD looks sharp, but I could not run any color management on my AOC LM729 or AOC LM720A LCD monitors. (At home)
At work I have an old 21" Soni monitor that is almost irreplaceable, sharp, correct color with Color management, etc.
When you buy a new PC, usually the monitor, hard-drive are the ones you will keep for the next PC.

No kidding. Those things sucked. AT home I do have a 15" LCD... not quite as bad... it was one of the first LCD's, but it was cheap becuase it was a display model. But it's still going strong, several years later...

Take a good look at the pictures ... They are fake. If these monitors really existed don't you think they would use real pictures ?

Huh, well, that's just a bunch of standard TFT displays attached together. What about a real high resolution display, such as an IBM T221[^]?

I am using a good old EIZO 6600-M (about 21", monochrome display, which is just very crisp with 1920x1440) and since about a month also a 22" Eizo TFT (monochrome too, 2048x1536).
I find that the standard 21"-22" TFT displays have pixels which are too large. The 30" Apple display is not better in this respect.
IBM sells a 22" TFT display (T221) which has a very high resolution (3840x2480) with 200dpi (ViewSonic and Iiyama also have the same hardware on their price list). That's something that I would be glad to test and that might compete with my black and white displays.

Frankly I cannot imagine anyone buying a monochrome display unless it is for reading X-rays or some other narrow specialty. Or if I was color blind.

You have to experience it.
On a monochrome CRT, you don't have any visible grid. The display is really smooth and uncredibly sharp. And the high persistance of this kind of displays make their flicker barely perceptible, which is not the case with the "faster" color phosphorus.
I can work 10 hours with a black and white display and my eyes get much less tired than when I work with my 21" EIZO color display.
The monochrome TFT is very bright and there again, the grid is much less visible than on a RGB display. And you don't percieve this uncomfortable glitter effect produced by the RGB triples of standard TFT displays (you know, white is not really percieved as white, much more like snow glittering in the sun). But maybe I have too sharp eyes

Oh yes, the glittering was the first uncomfortable thing I noticed, when I changed from CRT to TFT. But it has a positive effect, too: You don't stare at the display for hours. The glitter effect forces you to look around in the room or out of the window after a few minutes. Moving your eyes now and again can't be bad, can it?

Well, I am at about 80cm from my displays, and yet, the grid is painfully visible. You know the 3D postcards where you had to twist your eyes to see the 3D shape emerge from the noise? My eyes tend to have trouble focusing when the grid is visible, just as when watching these postcards.

I agree.
I have a couple of workstations (designed for viewing mammograms) that I use that have 2 or more 2048x2560 grayscale displays. I have to agree that the text is much sharper but without color I do not spend a lot of time developing on them. I'd rather use my main desktop that has 2 19in monitors in 1152x864 resolution.
