two I know :

either MFC Grid ( from CP's Chris Maunder ) [^] which is free, but I haven't used it extensivly.

or Dundas's Ultimage Grid[^] which is not free, but comes with the source code.

in both cases, they allow custom cells and for large data, offer a virtual mode that let you store ( or keep ) your data external to the grid, thus allowing very large dataset without having the grid itself grow in memory size.

to paint individual cells, and display images, ... you will need to define your custom cells; and I think it's quite easy.
