Of course it failed! You really messaged up the connection string.
Dim con As New OldDbConnection("Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=DB1.MDB")
This string, of source, assumes that the DB1.MDB file is in the same directory as the compiled .EXE your writing.

i had already put the databse in the bn folder
and also the error is coming when i am trying to fill the dataset with the table
adap.fill(ds,"table1")
if i remove this line , the code does not give me any exception

Meaningless considering your code would do anything at all without it. Your getting this exception (whatever it is, you've never told us!) because the .Fill statement goes to open the connection to the database and it fails. This is because the connection string is so screwed up. BTW: The Jet Provider doesn't understand "Initial Catalog"! That's for SQL Server providers!

hi.. i'd like to get all the emails from an additional mailbox in outlook (not my personal account). how can i possibly do that without using POP3? i tried outlook automation but populating all the emails is very slow.. it takes up to 10 mins to load 2000+ emails. how can i possibly do that? pls help me.. i'm stucked on this project..

u can make it by using creating menus
u can add " file edit favorites tools help" in menu bar
then u can add ur own custom controls for button like
"back forward etc"

I'm trying to read the Windows Registry and have been successful up to the point where I have to get a value other than type string. I know the key or at least I think the key is to use GetType(). I've looked at the GetType() under help but can not see an example on how to use it to determine if a Registry Value Name is what type. Here is a snippet of what I have been using to get the regvaluename of type string:

Dim RegValueName As String
Dim RegValueData As String
RegKey = Registry.LocalMachine.OpenSubKey(SubKey, False)
RegValueData = RegKey.GetValue(RegValueName)
Now I understand that the problem is with "RegValueData" and its type but how do I change the code around so that this will work with data other than type "string"

GetType will return the type of the returned value, not the Registry Type. GetType can't tell that the value you read is REG_SZ or REG_BINARY. The Registry calss is a bit limited as it does conversions to standard types for you ( ) that in some cases are completely useless. The registry type that is stored is "interpreted" based of the value type information that is passed in
Note: When setting a value, the way in which the value being
passed is stored in the registry is interpreted. There is no way to control
whether the information being passed is stored as an sz, or an expanded_sz
string, and therefore, all string values are interpreted as standard sz
values.
Microsoft insist on doing this to make the Registry easier to handle, but IMHO, you get less control over exactly what REG type it used for some values.

dropDown.DataSource = Helpers.GetCountryList ? Of course, you need to write the Helper class as well.
Or just create a control. This site probably has one.

Can someone tell me how to hide applications from the task list on win NT/XP using visual basic 6.0 not visual c++?, coz i was reading certain info. bout hidding applications but the code was in c++ and need it in visual basic 6.0, i really need someone´s help please.

You're going to have to show us what you're talking about, because, in general, there is no way to do that in NT/XP. What's the link you were looking at?
Under Windows 95/98/Me, this was possible using RegisterServiceProcess, but this function is not supported under NT/2000/XP/2003.

Hello,
In VB6 you can use the property "ToolTipText".
In VB.Net you can use the "ToolTip" control from the toolbox, and then a "ToolTip on ToolTipName" property will appear in the button's property page.

If Form1 is your startup object, you can't. If you close the startup object, you'll close your entire application.
