Which indicates that you are not using it correctly. OnCtlColor() is the preferred method. Please provide a relevant code snippet.

but after u type or copy some text on it, the background color of text area becomes white always.

Try adding:

pDC->SetBkMode(TRANSPARENT);

Hello,

I am developping under Win2k with Visual studio 6.
I have created a dialog containing a month calendar (CMonthCalCtrl).
Everything goes well while I execute my appli on Win2k.
But, as soon as I run my application on WinXP, I get a problem with this calendar : it doesn't fit in the rectangle I defined (on win2k) for it on the dialog, around 15-20% of the right part is missing, so I am not able to click the days in the last column.
Worse : If I copy my whole project on a Visual studio 6 running on WinXP, the problem already appears when I look at the dialog editor, once again calendar is too large for defined rectangle and I am obliged to enlarge the rectangle.
Do you have an idea that explain this difference of behaviour between Win2k and winXP ??

Check the desktop fonts setting between the two machines. It sounds like one of them is set for 'small fonts' and the other is set for 'large fonts'. Go to Control Panel, Display, Settings, Advanced.

Is there any option avilable from registry hooking or any other ideas....

Converting Dialog to PropertyPage during RunTime

Hi,
Is it possible to convert (or cast) an object of type CDialog to CPropertyPage during run-time ? The thing is that I want to be able to use a CDialog object as a page in a property sheet structue, so if anyone has an idea of what is the way to do it, I'll be glad if you could help me out here.

CDialog is the base of CPropertyPage, so AFAIK you should be able to cast from a CPropertyPage to CDialog with very few problems, but casting from CDialog to CPropertyPage will not work.

Hello all
I am making a client server application in which client will call system calls and send the information to server.
I want to store that information into database e.g Access using ADO( in VC++).

Plz guide me what should i do?

Do i have to do serialization of data?

e.g From client i have to send the the computer name and user name to server. how will i do this ?
how will i serialize data?
how will i use ADO? I am newbie plz be aptient with me and also tell me examples as well

First: one client server technology. Read up on this article I have found it to be a decent flexible library for winsock communications.

Hi,

I created an application which creates a folder in the temp directory to store the temporary output files, at program startup. When I exit my application I want to delete the files as well as the folder. My application successfully deletes the files( I used DeleteFile() API), but not the directory. The RemoveDirectory() always fails. Why is it so? I have also tried using _rmdir() method.
