Hi everyone,
I did a windows application using c#. If I want to distribute this as trial version software that is after certain period the application should not work, is there any tools or features to do this in c#???

Hi,
you can do one thing
Check the current system date when the application is loaded and
execute it further only if the date is less than the required date
else exit the application by giving the error message

thanks for your reply Yadav. Yes. I can do it. But what I did is, actually its a screen saver application. So I changed the application'e exe file extension from .exe to .scr and placed that .scr file into system32 folder when deployment process. So how can I control this .scr application?

Hi,
You have changed the extension from .exe to .scr but
whenever the executable is invoked it will execute in the same way so you can
do as i said earlier and that will work. it doesn't matters if the file is .exe or .scr

Basically the screensaver executes that means it is an exe and you dont need to worry for that windows will handle it

Hi there,
Basically i'm a noob with C# and web service, and i'm working on my project of building a C# web service to connect between a supplier system and a client system.
For example, a making order task would involve the client system sending that order data to the web service and from there it will relay the information towards the supplier system. I know basically how to send data and receive data from the web service by button clicking event. So the first part shouldn't be a problem. But how do i get it to relay data from the web service to the other system?
And the supplier system is built using c# and sql server, while the client systems which consist of a java with mysql system and another vb.net with ms access. I plan to use the basic template wdsl that is provided by the .net framework, is there going to be any problem connecting to the java system?

hi
my html mail is in correct format at mailroot queue but when send to receipent it is in text format
iam sending mail as html format..after sending in the mailroot queue it is in html format,
but,after the delevering to reeipent it is displaying as text
what is the problem

The more I see of generics the less I like them!
As I understand it - typeof(T) == typeof(object) here for all T!
Even an out parameter wouldn't be ideal as it could be null - you would want a ref so that GetType() is gauranteed OK.
Alternatively just create a temporary T and call GetType on it - there must be a no-parameter ctor or XmlSerializer cannot deserialize anyway so you can put a new() constraint on T.
Note that you should make xmlSerializer static and create it in a static initializer because creation of a serializer is very time consuming.

I don't understand why i wanted to get rid of typeof call anway...was misintrupruting code-analysis warning i think. I found i could just do "default(T).GetType()" in it's place...but this is for bad peformance i think cause it has to initialize zzz...typeof is just fine for gettin the type of a generic.

I am new at this forum. I like to ask if anyone knows how to programatically shutdowns, reset pc? I am using Windows XP. Also, controlling the audio on /off and its volume. Also, Is there api for controling the monitor screen brightness? What is the api for monitoring a specific port (USB)? The TcpCleint and TcpListner is not appraoch applicable. What are the api used to control this functionalities in VB.net or C#?

Thanks for reply Tatchung, I have seen similar topic where you use System.Diagnostics.Process Kill Method. That is not the approach I needed, I like a direct approach using api dll.

See the Windows Multi Media API. I think you're looking for waveoutSetVolume[^]. Google for examples[^].

That is device dependant. There is no one port, or example code, that works for all devices. You would have to consult the developer documentation on the device your talking about.

Thanks Dave for link to the docs, this is for CE, is it applicable in XP? I test it. You specify modem specific to device, there is no commonality between them?

I didn't post a link to anything related to Windows CE. waveOutSetVolume works on Windows 95 through Windows 2003.
When did you mention anything about a modem? Where did this come from? You're not making any sense what-so-ever.

Hi Dave,
When I saw this waveOutSetVolume method is same method of coredll.dll for Windows CE in one link I saw, So I ask if it is applicable to XP. The modem is connected to the USB I mentioned earlier. I have some project as audio volume task as connecting remote server (VPN) using RAS. That is when I mentioned the modem. Pardon for any misunderstanding in your part.

I still don't have a single clue what you're trying to do. What on earth does audio volume have to do with VPN and a modem on a USB port?
If you have a modem connected to a USB port, you'll communicate with the modem as if it was attached to a COM port, COM1, COM2, whatever. There's nothing "USB special" you have to do.

Currently I am writing a server program, basiclly in a Form when I click a button it starts the server in another thread.
the other thread will recieve message thru the network, and prints the recieved data onto the form. I run this code and I get an exception saying that the listbox is in another thread and cannot be accessed.
I am new to c# threads, I hope some expert can help me
