Hi,
I require high precision data types in order to store fractional values up to say around 64 decimal places (arbitrary would be good also), i.e. 0.999999991228342783642783647826347263487234... etc. The double datatype is insufficient, and the long double is double in disguise by current compiler standards (why this is so I'm not sure). So to overcome this problem I serched the internet high and low for a C++ class based high precision data-type and found, amongst others, QD (quad-double) which would be fine for my purposes. (you can find this on a goodle search)
When I set up a standard console application and then try to include all the files everything works fine and everything links, so long as i add the qd progect to my solution and alter program dependencies so that my main app depends on the qd vcproject. The program quite happily churns out high precision results using the "qd_real" data type class.
However, if i try to get the same class to work in an MFC console application it doesnt want to play. At build time I get very strange results such as:

c:\Documents and Settings\Paul\Desktop\HP\qd-win-2.1.48b\qd-win-2.1.48\include\qd\qd_inline.h(54): error C2084: function 'qd_real::qd_real(int)'
already has a body
c:\Documents and Settings\Paul\Desktop\HP\qd-win-2.1.48b\qd-win-2.1.48\include\qd\qd.h(258): error C2143: syntax error : missing ')' before ';'
These errors didn't occur in the standard console implementation.
Furthermore, if I take the #include "qd/qd.h" and put it before the #incude "stdafx.h" the application compiles, but then the program complains that it doesn't know what qd_real class is if i try to instantiate one in main().
I've also tried placing the #inlcude "qd/qd.h" in the stdafx.h files, but still it comes up with the errors.
Does anybody have some sort of idea what is going on?

I dont know where you got that version from - I couldnt find it, and the one previous to that, is a unix build environment and its very late at night down here, so 'scuse me for not building a library from it ...

this may improve things ... (my suggestion would have been to build qd as a seperate library, hopefully the win version does this and its more use)

Hi g,
Thanks for the link I have seen this page before and it is in fact the windows version of QD that wouldn't work with MFC when i tried to mix the two pieces of code.
However, instead i did something which i hadn't previously tried. I used the ARPEC library windows download and that, after a bit of jiggery pokery here and there, works well.
Thanks for your help... without you directing me to that link i may well have been pulling my hair out by now, or sitting miserably in a corner !

Hi dear member ,
I want to make a program by c++ to develop a sell system in a small company specializing in selling PC parts(configurations),according to this table contents:
(I minimized the no. of rows & columns in this post to be short. )the columns names are(Part_No ,Part_Quantity, Part_Price), and the rows elements are(10, 80, 100)
The c++ program must work according to the following steps :
1. it must display the array contents from the table.
Then it will ask the user to:
2. enter the requested Part_No , if it’s found go to step no. (3) ,else print “the part isn’t found” then go to step no. (2).
3. enter the requested quantity(qu) ;(the program must check) if the entered (qu) is more than the existing (qu) in the array contents ,it prints “the (qu) isn’t available, the available (qu) is ***(the strike is the No. of the available (qu); Please enter a suitable q”, then go to step no. (3),but if the entered (qu) is less or equal to the stored Q in the array , it prints ”the (qu) is found” then go to step no. (4).
4. ask the user “Do you want to continue the sell process’,if “Yes” go to step no. (5) else go to step no. (2).
5. Calculate the price of the sold quantity.
6. Print the Part_No, print the available quantity , print the subsist (qu), and print the sold (qu).
7. ask the user ”Do you want to do another selling process”,if “Yes” go to step no.(2),else go to step(8).
8. print “the process is finished”.

I have a modal dialog box A and when it runs, it stays on top. Is there a way to hide the dialog box or set dialog box A at the back of another modal dialog box? I'm using MFC. I'm kinda desperate for solutions.

But if we call ShowWindow() say:
int m_nExitCode = dlg.DoModal();
dlg.ShowWindow(SW_SHOWMINIMIZED);
This will pass activation of window A to another window. I want the window to be still running but just invisible.
If only it's a modeless window it will be much easier.

Why do you want to hide your modal dialog box ? Hidding it won't allow you to make it 'non-modal'. In other words, it means that if you hide, you won't be able to close ('cause its hidden) but you won't be able neither to work with the rest of your application because your modal dialog is still opened (even if hidden). Then, your user will have a little problem to close your application, don't you think ?
Maybe a better approach to that is to use modeless dialogs (they will allow you to work with the rest of your application but they are a little bit more complicated to manage)

The dialog was created with a resource so i have no choice but to display it as modal. Sorry I'm still a novice mfc programmer. I will be the one who will close the modal dialog box and not the user. Say, I have a modal dialog box with a progress bar, and another modal dialog box which runs an update. How do i hide the one which does the update?

modal has nothing do deal with resources...
you have a CDialog inherited class, which you associates with a dialog resource...
then, when you create you dialogbox, you can call either .DoModal() on it (to make it modal), or .Create() for a modeless dialog.
if this code wasn't written directly but you but but the wizard, then go to where the dialog is created and where domodal() is called, and change it...

Wow, I think your are mixing everything 
Ok, first, using a modeless dialog box is still done with a ressource. In fact the only thing that changes is that it lets the user work with the rest of your program. Let's take an example:
CMyModalDlg Dlg;<br />
Dlg.DoModal();<br />
MessageBox("Test message");
If you run this code, you will see that the "Test message" (message box) will only be displayed when you close your modal dialog. It means that your program 'stops' at this line to let the message box receive the inputs from the user. Once the dialog is closed, the DoModal function is exited and your program continues. But this also means that your program main loop is not processed thus you cannot work with the rest of your application (I think you already discovered that).
Now, if instead of using a dialog box, you use a modeless one, you won't call the DoModal function (but rather simply ShowWindow) and thus, your program will continue and show immediatley the message box. This means also that you will still be able to 'work' with the rest of your program (click on buttons,...). I suggest you to search for modeless articles on this website to see how to use them.
In your example, you won't be able to have two moal dialogs (because of what I explained below). Or, the only way to do it is to open one 'inside the code' of the first one. But, then the first one won't be refreshed and processed.
I suggest that you buy yourself a book about the MFC because you are lacking some important concepts there. And it is impossible to explain in detail through a forum.

Thank you very much for your reply Cedric!  I sorta crashed myself into MFC. I had to do many things immediately, and learn in the process. Yeah, I admit I have a lousy mfc foundation and sorta did not have a good mfc first impression (I was a java kid). I am sort of in an experimenting stage right now. Good thing there are many of you experts here who can share your thoughts.
