Thanks to everyone for their help.
I found the answer finally at http://www.bdragon.com/lair/2005/08/27_xmlexception_the_data_at_th/
it's doc.load("c:\test.xml") and not doc.LoadXml("c:\test.xml")
Thanks to everyone for their help.

SProvider = New BinaryServerFormatterSinkProvider()
CProvider = New BinaryClientFormatterSinkProvider()
CType(SProvider, BinaryServerFormatterSinkProvider).TypeFilterLevel = TypeFilterLevel.Full
chan = New TcpChannel(props, CProvider, SProvider)
I get an an error in the second last line. And when i comment it run run the serverand the client i get an error
like this:
""This remoting proxy has no channel sink
which means either the server has no registered server channels that are listening, or this application has no suitable client channel to talk to the server.""
I have also read that all the remote application has Trustlevel =low ByDefault.

1 - Develop a function to translate a color name to color code:
White #FFFFFF
RED #FF0000
GREEN #00FF00
Blue #0000FF
2- When web browser send data to web server using the URL, It encode all character by place the percentage symbol(%) and two hexadecimal digits, It also converts the space character to (+) symbol
for example the text "Abc-2&3" will be encode as "Abc%2d2%236"
Develop a function to decode a string send by the web browser.
Can U help me to solve these exercices
Thanks alottttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!
I tried so hard and got so far

What specifically is is that you have problems with?
What are you studying currently? What techniques are you supposed to use in these execises? Most of the first task and the entire second task can be solved by using built-in methods in the framework, but I suppose that this is not the intention of the exercises?

Hello
You have to reference the System.Drawing library
Then in top of your class insert:
Imports System.Drawing
That's it

hi
It is working in vb.net but not in vb6.0 because in vb 6.0 there is no any class like bitmap in system.drawing.dll.
if you have any other idea so please!
Thanks

The simplest way in vb6 is to add aninvisible picture box and do the following to load the picture and obtain the height width
PicBox.Picture = LoadPicture("C:\1.jpg")
PicBox.AutoSize = True
MsgBox PicBox.Width
MsgBox PicBox.Height
Me.Show
"If i was king cigarettes would be free."

THNAKS IT SOLVED MY PROBLEM

Hi Guys, I am working on VB.NET/Access. Consider the data 0000011. I am writing the data in CSV format to a file. When I open the file with notepad, the data looks correct. However, when I open in excel, the leading zeros are truncated. It appears as a number.
how do you write such data to open correctly in excel.
With Best Regards,

You need to convert the cell to 'Text' format and not 'General'. By default excel will automatically exclude leading Zero's in a 'General' Formatted Cell!
Highlight the whole column and right click, select 'Format cells' and change the format to 'Text'.
Hope this helps.

Even if I convert the cell to TEXT, the result is the same.

It Will be!
You need to use the import wizard in excel and select the cell type to be text.
If you load the file then try changing the column to text it will not do anything, as the leading zero's have already been taken out.

Hi to all,
I'm trying to develop a query tool. Actually I want to run query like:
SELECT * FROM MyTable WHERE MyField = :variable
The problem is that I don't know at the time of running the query, which query is and how many parameters I have.
I understood I have to use the Command.Parameters collection, but I'm still looking for some snippets because I didn't found so many examples.
Any suggestion are appreciated.

I don't understand what you are aiming for here.
Can you explain a little more?
What database server are you using?
What is the purpose of this?
If you can then i will try to help

Hi,
Does anyone know of a good demo project or article on simply drawing a rectangle with the mouse over an image? (It's for a small app I want to create to resize an image). I've looked around but can't find anything to get me started... I guess it's some GDI+ stuff I need to do but am not sure.
Ideally the rectangle would be able to be resized after it was drawn (a la Photoshop etc) but I can live without that if I have to.
Any tips or pointers on how/where to get started would be appreciated.
TIA...
Mike

Hello
Here is the code how to draw a rectangle on a picture box named picmain:
Dim startX As Integer<br />
Dim StartY As Integer<br />
<br />
Private Sub picmain_MouseMove(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles picmain.MouseMove<br />
If e.Button = MouseButtons.Left Then<br />
picmain.Refresh()<br />
Dim g As Graphics = Graphics.FromHwnd(picmain.Handle)<br />
Dim myPen As Pen = New Pen(Color.Red)<br />
myPen.DashStyle = System.Drawing.Drawing2D.DashStyle.Dash<br />
g.DrawRectangle(myPen, startX, StartY, Math.Abs(startX - e.X), Math.Abs(StartY - e.Y))<br />
End If<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
Private Sub picmain_MouseDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles picmain.MouseDown<br />
startX = e.X<br />
StartY = e.Y<br />
End Sub
The resizing will be up to you.
Hope it helps
