Javascript is enabled, as are cookies, etc.
We have lots of other code running on that machine (we've got a development machine which the problem happens on, but all our other sites work on that machine).
It also comes and goes - I've had the problem on my development machine one day, and then a couple of hours later it stops happening and the site works correctly. It's most bizarre!

if u have given AutoEventWireup="false" in the page directive then u have to give

I've tried changing the AutoEventWireup="true" but it doesn't make any difference, the event still fails to trigger. I wouldn't have thought a setting like that should affect it anyway (or, more to the point, if it was as simple as that, I wouldn't expect the code-behind call to trigger on any client at all, rather than working on some and not on others, as we're currently seeing).
Any other ideas?

Bit of extra info: the odd thing is that we have 2 production servers running exactly the same code - one is used as a 'staging' server (i.e., sand-box pre-production site used for external client testing) and the other is the actual production site. Both are configured identically (one used to be the real production system before we migrated it to an alternate hosting environment).
The odd thing is that the IE client which exhibits the problem on the staging server, doesn't exhibit that behaviour on the production server. So you have the same binaries and presentation (.asXx) files on both servers, and yet the same IE client behaves differently depending on which server you use.
And yet my machine works perfectly when I run against either server.
It's a head-scratcher, alright...

Hi all,
A problem has recently started to occur when building the MSI file for a
project I am working on.
Now, for some reason as soon as the setup proj tries to build the MSI file
the Windows Installer launches. I get "Please Wait While WIndows Configures
Visual Studio .NET Enterprise." Then another box pops up saying:
"Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Visual Studio .NET
Enterprise Architect. Then Windows Installer cannot continue."
If this problem is sorted out i can continue installing this file in my server, so that it provides all the crystal report runtime files and i can start running my project in the server.

Hi,
There is a page (Register.aspx) which contains a LoginView to Register a new user. If one is not logged into the system , then he can browse to this page and create a new user. BUT if I log in to the system as admin and then click on the Register.aspx, then nothing happens and the login view control does not get displayed.
Do you know why?
May be it is because this control only works if you are not logged in already?

Hello,
Using the configuration I have created three roles i.e. (standard, supervisor, administrator)
1)How can I get these roles using code (vb.net or c#)?
2) How is it possible to see a list of all the users who have already creatred a login in the system using the Login control (p.s. using the asp.net configuration I can see the users but not sure how to display them on the web page and get a count of these standard users)
3)How is it possible to assign each standard user to an ID of a record in a database table? For example: user1 who is a standard user needs to be able to see areacode1,2,3
Something like the follwing where peter is a standard user and Ali is a supervisor. Notice that in this table I can not use the ID of the users because these users are created using the login control and there is no ID fo them, hence the name of the user.

Hello every one
i have a query related to calender control.
i have some radio buttons on click of which corresponding text boxes and buttons has to be enabled.and on click of the buttons,it opens a calender and populate the corresponding text box with the selected date.
its workin fine.
my problem is that i want to open the corresponding calendar just under the corresponding text box.
remember i have used only one calender.
actually it opens at the same place every time where it has been set at the design time.which creates confusion to the end user.
any solution regarding this will be highly appriciated.

the local site am developing enables a client to attach a word documents, to be downloaded later by other clients.
it would be better to use digital signature to increase security
how can i do this ???
or is there a tool that does that and can be used???
to be comprehensive:
its done through asking for your private key (no one knows it except u) before uploading the doc
and when downloading this doc the client is asked for the corresponding public key of the sender(the public key is distributed to all clients)
the private and public keys represents a pair given for each client
the main difficulty is in generating a private key and the corresponding public key.

You could use digital certificates - each client is required to have a copy of a certificate installed on the machine they wish to use to access your site. The site could then verify their certificates and allow them to download the document as appropriate.
It saves complication with clients having to enter public key strings etc., but it does tie your clients to the machine(s) on which they have installed the cert.

I get the following error when visiting my newly published site:
It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.
the Source Error is the: authentication mode="Forms" line in the web.config file.
I have IIS 6.0
I have been googling a lot on this topic but all the answers i can find tell me that this error is due to the fact that the site is not created as a virtual directory. But mine is. I also have only one web.config file. I relly don't know what to do. My OS is MS Windows Server 2003 (for small business server) Would be greatful for any help!

I am using Access database and I have a date field which is in format of DD/MM/YYYY. In my drop down list I have enabled items like 1 day, 2 day ,3days and etc. I would like to know how to convert the drop down list selection day and update the date of dB field?
E.g User select from drop down list :- 2 days
Current date is 03/05/2006
So the expected return date field in dB its 03/05/2006 + 2 days.
FYI, I am using VB code with ASPX using ASP 2.0 WEB MATRIX.

Hi Phil,
My scenario is I have a data grid with the field Date set to Date/Time format.
I have created a drop down list outside and hardcode drop down list into the drop down e.g 1 day, 2 day,3day. I am not sure how I could grab the value of the selected drop down list item and update it in the Date field with its DD/MM/YYYY format.
The procedure you provided me could not hint me more to solving the problem.Sorry as I m still a beginner and am using ASPX but using VB.NET code.
Please advise or provide any suggestions to this.Thanks.

While hard-coding the DropDownlist entries, i hope you have set both Text and Value properties. if not go to the properties window of the dropdown list and click on the columns property, which will pop up new window enabling you to enter Text and Value propeties for that ddlist. if you are binding the DD list in code behind code then follow as below
DropDownList1.Items.Insert(0,"1day");<br />
DropDownList1.Items[0].Text="1 day";<br />
DropDownList1.Items[0].Value="1";<br />
<br />
DropDownList1.Items.Insert(1,"2days");<br />
DropDownList1.Items[0].Text="2 days";<br />

go on filling the DropDownList1 as shown above.
