hi i embedd my exe in vs.net project as resource . now in run time i want to run my exe and don't save it in hard . how to do ?
my idea is load exe (in resource) to stream and run it . byt how to run it ?
my exe is win32 application ..

First, Iam sorry for the subject. I can't get any appropriate subject for this thread.

Now, the problem.
I have listview with checkboxes. when I double click on listview item, checkbox gets checked.
I was wandering how can I prevent checkbox to get checked on double click and instead of checking checkboxes to run an method or anything else, but to still have checkboxes and to check them by clicking on each one?

I've tried with

ListViewItem item = (ListViewItem)sender;<br />
item.Checked = false;

plased on doubleclick event of listview, but raises an error?
Is there any other resolution?

Iam working on Framework 1.1 - for now Smile | :)

If you'd read the error then it'd tell you that sender cannot be cast to ListViewItem because sender is in fact an instance of ListView D'Oh! | :doh:

. In fact if you're running it inside the debugger then it'd even break on that line for you.

It'd be best to handle the ItemChecked event, if the checkbox wasn't suppose to be checked then invert it, otherwise leave it alone.

Yes, you'r right.
I get "Additional information: Specified cast is not valid." when casting ListViewItem to sender.

Hi Folks,
I have 3 datagrids on a same webform. I want to assign a value to 3rd datagrid's specific cell on DataGrid2's SelectedIndexChanged event.
How can I do this?
Is it possible to do this on Runtime?

i'm not sure about it for datagrid because am using datagridview. but any way try this:

datagrid.Rows[2].Cell[1].Value= "any value";

Yes. Write the following code in tabcontrol's Selected event.

if(e.TabPageIndex == 0)<br />
  MessageBox(e.TabPge.Name);<br />

I use the tabcontrol quite a bit in my application, and although you CAN use the index of the tab pages, using the text property gives you a bit more flexibility IMHO. For instance, so far my users have added 3 different tab pages, and deleted 2 of them, and changed the order of them 3 more times. By using the tabControlName.SelectedTab.Text property instead of the index, I don't have to change NEARLY as much code when things change, and my maintenance programmers will have a much easier time too. Wink | ;)

hy,

there is a very simple way to see which tab is selected. Use the SelectedIndex property.

for example:
if (tabControl1.SelectedIndex == 1)
{
MessageBox.Show("Tab1");
}

you can also use this property to select a tab page:
tabControl1.SelectedIndex = 2;

If I'm not mistaking the first tab has the index 1 (or 0). Try it.

How can we clear data from the datagridview, which is not bounded with any data source.
I am using this gridview on entry form, which get data from the user and send it to the database. After this it should be cleared along with other boxes, but how! Cry | :((

hai.. i am in a need to write the listview items in to a xml file.. my list view collection has 2 columns(attribute name and attribute value) and the no. of items is not constant. later i have to write the xml contents in to the listview.

plz give me some ideas.... i am using c# and windows application it is....

u can store the data of list view into dataset
and then write it into xml file by using
dataset's WriteXml method.

my prob is... i will capture all the input values from the user... controls in the form 3 textboxes and a list view item... user can enter as many items as he needs in tht listbox control....

i have to save these values in the xml file and then i will use the same file to repopulate the form...

guide me plz.......

According to ur reqirement i think u have to use two dataset's
one for storing 3 textbox values and another for populating listbox
becouse daset's writexml method writes data in xml file using table name tag,
column name and value tag,so for single entry u can not store multiple
values of listbox.

so u cn try
Dataset ds = new Dataset();
DataTable tbl1 = new DataTable();
tbl1.Columns.Add(new DataColumn("column name",typeof(String)));
tbl1.Columns.Add(new DataColumn("column name",typeof(String)));
tbl1.Columns.Add(new DataColumn("column name",typeof(String)));

DataRow dr = tbl1.NewRow();
dr["column name"] = textbox1.text;
dr["column name"] = textbox2.text;
dr["column name"] = textbox3.text;
tbl1.Rows.Add(dr);

Ds.Tables.Add(tbl1);

Ds.WriteXml("coplete path and name of xml file");

same way u can try to add data to second datasset which will store values
of listbox items.
and after that for reading u can use dataset's ReadXml method and populate
data into textbox and listbox from these datasets.

File Downloading - Help Please

Hi,

I have recetly moved from Java to .NET/C#.

I am trying to download a file from my test website and save it to disk on any client machine (this means getting access to each clients hard disk etc).

In java this required the use of applets etc...

I have so far not found the corresponding code in C#/.NET.

I am wanting to

(i) click a button in a web page on my website.
(ii) do some security checks before proceeding
(iii) stream the file(s) from the source directory on the website host machine
(iv) stream the file(s) to the client
(v) save the file(s) to the clients hard disk.
(vi) the original file may need to be zipped so the client side operation may require an automatic unzipping process

I know I could zip all the files and then add a link to my webpage that the user selects to download the file and then they manually unzip the relevant files but in some instances an automatic approach would be better.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I have also posted this to the .NET board if this is the wrong discussion board.

I will keep searching.
