Hi..
Thank you for your respond..I know how to use the application and session state variables and i have used the following code :

But the problem it doesnt give me the right number always.Some times this code tells me there is two visitors while there is no one except me.And some times it doesnt decrement the visitors count number when i exit.
Do any one know how to make a better way that wont be affected by application errors and will solve my problem?

I would like to call a method of my code from within XSL but it does not seem to like the presence of the '%' character inside the xsl.
Basicly the XSL loops through an XML writing url's into links on a menu...
I have a method that when passed a URL encrypts the query string portion and spits it back out as URL+encoded QueryString.
I would like to call this method using somthing akin to <%EncodeQueryString(<xsl:value-of select="url" );%=""> in the xsl for-each loop so as to output the urls with encoded queriers.
Could some one please point me in the right direction with regards getting ASP.NET script to execute from XSL?

I am working on ASP.net /VB.net v1.1.
I am opening an excel using Interop services – and this web application is
working fine on my local machine but when I put the same application on
server its giving me this error.
“Server execution failed”
**** When i call the application from my local machine and web application
is on server , i get this error

I searched all over MSDN and google , no help or good article , even
article given by MS is for windows application and i am working on web

I have a requirement to add one line of text automatically to the end of the all web pages in a web site in IIS (all virtual directories under the web site). I am trying to write an HttpModule using ASP.NET/VB.NET which can do this. Do anybody have some sample code to share?

Hi guys,
I'm actually quite new to ASP.NET programming. The program that I'm building now is related to coding an ASP.NET web service for my Pocket PC.
My question is, can ASP.NET run on Pocket PC? If yes, do I need any special applications or just Visual Studio 2005 could do the job?
Another problem thats bugging me is the fact that the screen for Pocket PCs are smaller, so do I need to set a specific height and width for my website, or do all Pocket PCs auto shrink the website to fit their screens?

No. ASP.NET is a server side technology and is designed to run on a server system.

Try some websites on your PocketPC and see. I tend to use the low graphics version of websites if available. Some services, such as gmail, detect if it is being used via the browser on a PocketPC and adapt themselves to the smaller screen and lower bandwidth availability. Some ASP.NET controls will adapt the HTML they render to the smaller formfactor, but it still requires some work from you to get it working well on all systems.

and I use iBATIS module.
I want to improve search power of my web app.
If it is possible that is asynchronous searching, I want to use that skill.

The Async nature of the database connection probably won't be felt by the end user because the whole web page has to be defined before it can be rendered to the client and it can't render itself until the query returns.
The alternative is to create a control that can be displayed to tell the user to wait. That is, when the user presses the button that initiates the lengthy query they are presented with a "please wait" message until the new page is available.

I have these three tables in my database - outcome (primary key:outcome_id), assessment(primary key:assessment_id) & outcome_plan(foreignkeys: outcome_id & assessment_id)
I have created a dynamic table at runtime taking the headers from the Outcome Table with dtOutcome = Outcome.GetAll(m_ConnString) and the Row headers from the Assessment Table with Assessment.GetAll(m_connString). I need to fill in the individual cells with the info from the third table with Outcome_Plan.GetAll(m_connString) - naturally I need to drop the info into the corresponding rows and columns. Can someone please start me off on this?
I understand that I need to loop through the column records first find a match for column and then loop through corresponding rows until I find the correct one and then insert the data into the right cell. Not sure of where to start with syntax in vb.net

Only problem I am having now is getting a server control to call the function and validate the form.
If anyone has any suggestions for getting this to work please help. I have been using the following code on an asp.net button control: -

Read rule number 4 in this[^].
You can't use a server control to call the javascript to validate the form. When the event runs to handle the server event, the form has already been posted. You have to call the function from client script.
Here is an example on how you verify a form using client script:

I have a button column in my datagrid. after editing in my datagrid i am updating the row as usual. But i want to validate the textbox values (the textboxes are in EditItemTemplate) before updating the row. Where should i place my validation code.

You can put a validator in edititem template. In EdititemTemplate give your textbox a ID.
YOu can do soemthign liek this:

<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="tbProjects" Width="255">

<asp:RequiredFieldValidator ControlToValidate="tbProjects" </asp:RequiredFieldValidator>
</EditItemTemplate>
You can replace requiredfield validator with anyother kind of validator.

There is no 'Click' event, that's true, but there are several events serving mouse click, depends on where in datagrid you click. What event exactly are you looking for? Probably SelectedIndexChanged (when you select a row), I suppose...
Anyway, select your grid in Page Designer, then right click your grid in Page Designer and select Properties. In properties window click on events icon ('lightning' icon) and u will see all supported events of datagrid.
