Hi,
I have the small doubt.When reading about @Import directive,By default, only certain namespaces are automatically imported into an ASP.NET page. If you want to refer to a class that isn't a member of one of the default namespaces, then you must explicitly import the namespace of the class or you must use the fully qualified name of the class.

I think we can achieve this functionality by specifing the namespace with USING like
Using System.Data;

Then what is the difference between USING and @Import or Both are same.

The @Import directive allow to add reference to a namespace in the web page .aspx, when it gets compiled the @Import directive is translated to the using in C# or Imports in VB.NET depending on the language you choose for the web page.

Greetings,

I have a doubt... In my page i have a three controls a menu control, multiview control, a view controls inside the multiview.When the user clicks in the menu control the view index changes to another with postback.

I dont want the postback.... i need to manage the MenuControl with Callback but i don't know manipulate the menu control with JScript?

Someone could tell me where I find info about that?

Hi , i want to add a checkbox to my gridview just ike in the hotmail gridview Poke tongue | ;-P

when checking that checkbox i want to select the line that thiss checkbox belong to

i added a field into my table with a bit type and i got the checkbox but it is disabled & i can't check it

I'm having a bit of difficulty with some text encoding, the problem is that i have set up all posts so that "ISO-8859-1" is used so that when a user adds the pound symbol "£" in a text area field then character is encoded to "£" and if the user includes "&" in the text area then the character is encoded to "&", this is nessasay so that users can use the "£" symbol. The problem is that text area field has a character length validatoin check on it and if the user includes the "£" or "&" characters in the text then the characters are counted as 5 and 4 characters respectiveley instead of 1. I have tried to convert the string from the text area from "ISO-8859-1" to unicode so that "£" is changed to "£" using the code below but this does not seem to work.

I am new to ASP.NET.
I am using cache in the place of session.Since the data stored is large,i am using catche.
Now i protect this cached data from other users and other application from accessing it.

suggest me the way to do.

Hi Albert,
IMO, it might be because of the locations of the your custom file and the generated dataset file. Where do you put them in your project? Can they link together to get compiled?

Hi i am using a web service and have written all the info regarding the webservice in webconfig file. To connect to the webservice i use the foolwing code

Hi , i saw an object that asp.et 2.0 brought , this object called sqldatasource actually i don't know if it is new to asp.net 2.0 but i have never seen it before

can you tell me please what is that object & when we should use it ? & better how can we use it & how it works ?

because i saw that we can use it as a datasource for some controls like gridview && ...

but what i don't know is how this wok ? how the data get stored within this object ? i hope you undertstand the meaning

I would suggest using the ObjectDataSource instead. That way you can put all your database code in a separate class file. That is what n-tier is all about and it makes maintenance so much easier.

you need to create a user interface page where you collect all user details or u can use WizardControl[^] for this as wel.

in second step you need to create a DataBase and a table for saving you user details.

thats it so simple and its finish. Smile | :)

hey , please i tried to use dataset in the web devoloper express 2005 but i didn't find it ?

i don't know why ? i think that the new that .net brought is this datset to allow us do the update of the data in local before send it back to the DB

can somebody help me please ?

If by this you mean that it is different from the old asp recordset, then yes, it is totally disconnected from the DB.

You'll need to be a bit more specific with your question before you get a reasonable answer...

no i didn't mean that , i worked with asp.net 1.1

in the data prts in the toolbox you see the dataset object & the connection object ....

but in the web devoloper express edition i didn't find that dataset even when i tried to declare an object with code i didn't find it

imports system.Data.sqlclient

dim DtSet as new Dataset

as you see i called the namespace & i tried to write that line to declare the dataset but i didn't got that data set class , when you write new and you do a space you can't see "DataSet"
