We can send multiple values to URLs like the below,
..service.aspx?account=082713&source=search
herr account is one value and source is another.

The two versions of .net can run side by side. Make sure that .net 1.1 is installed on the server and then install your app.
Run the iis manager console and go to the properties/ASP.net tab for the virtual directory that contains your app and ensure that .net 1.1 is selected.

but this will give empty value.

I always use Request.UrlReferrer and it works. However, your browser may be set to not show the referrer.

are you getting any error or simply it is not getting fired?
check the datagrid html part whether you have given it correctly.

1. query string with the new window url.
2. session variables

Hi,
I am trying to download files from a datagrid but am using a simple button to test if the codes work. The codes displays the download window but it is downloading my aspx file instead of my word document. I hope u could help me solve this error.

You might want to add something like
Response.AddHeader( "Content-Disposition", "attachment;filename="testingFile.doc" ) you your headers to specify the download name.
