Hi,
I am dynamically creating asp.net controls at runtime. I have 2 dropdown lists. When I change the item selected in the first drop down list I want to load the second drop-down list. How shall I add the SelectedIndexChanged event handler for the first dropdown list? Please let me know at the earliest since this is really urgent.

Did you create a variable of dropdownlist? If yes use that variable to select the event.

Is there a way to allign textbox and Labels in ASP.NET 2.0.
Tried to allign through designer but it does not seem to work well. Tried
to change using in code but that does not seem to work well.
Is there a way to say where to keep the text box and labels correctly( like x ,y coordinates
or any other such thing

It should be quite easy in the designer. I don't recall exactly how it's done right now, but you can align an object to any other object in the design. I think that you just press alt, control or shift when you move the object, and it will snap to any objects vertically and/or horizontally.

No idea - I've never taken it, and I doubt I ever will because I don't think it contains much in the way of programming content. Perhaps if you are going to write networking software the concepts it teaches will be useful to you, but I'd find a more suitable course.

Hi Everyone,
I need help with using a user control in a repeater. That sounds simple enough, but what is complicating it is that the control takes an id from the dataset that the repeater is displaying.
I'll explain using a scenario - imagine you have a repeater displaying details of a number of books for sale. There are various actions you can perform on the books (buy it, view the list of chapters, view reader comments, etc) but not all of these actions are available for each book (perhaps it isn't in stock, so you can't buy, or perhaps there are no comments to view).
The control consists of a drop down list and a button. the list contains the actions available to each book, and the button will carry out the selected action. The thing is that the control needs the isbn number in order to build the list relevent to the book in the repeater, and I am having trouble passing it in using the property in the control. I have tried the ItemDataBound event, but that doesn't begin passing through the isbn at the time the repeater is building each repeater item, and the ItemCreated event won't work either.
Please can somebody tell me how to pass the id through as each repeater item is building the control?

Two options to pass the value to the user control placed in the ItemTemplate of the repeater control:
+ Use the data binding expression to bind value to a public property of the user control.
+ Use the ItemDataBound event of the repeater.
However, you should remember that the user control is only able to use the value after the binding/setting happens.

I saw a book regarding binding but the title shows that book is ment for win forms. Try it, may be you found the required things.

What is Message here? Are you trying to send mail through you application, if so then you need to import the namespace System.Web.Mail.

Don't give the header text of the columns of the datagrid where you want it as blank.

Hi I am Kishore, a QA Consultant and a part time .Net developer.
The scenario is in a web application (ASP.Net and C#)
I am trying to connect to clearcase and get some data, for this i need to invoke the cmd process and pass the command which gets the data from clearcase view.
As it didnt worked, i tried this to make sure it will work
I added windows dll for reference, then checked the following command
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("cmd.exe");
It works but, the cmd is just running on the background. I am getting in the task manager process list.
I run the same command from a windows application - System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("cmd.exe");
from a windows application
a new command window is opend
So is it possible to do some shell commands invoked from a web application, and if so how,
pls consider this thing for example
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("cmd.exe /C rename c:\1.txt 11.txt");
If i give this statement, i will get an exception in both windows as well as a web application.
But if i try from Start Windows-> Run - cmd.exe /C rename c:\1.txt 11.txt
it will work; it will rename the file
So how is it possible to do this directly from a web application.
I will be really grateful if you could help me out.
