Hello firends
when I recieve new email from AJAX,Without any refresh it shows me I recieve new email and number of add one to number of email in inbox.
I want to know how gmail do that?
Is it by AJAX?
When we use AJAX,User does something ,And after user did an action on interface ,then interface will change,But in this case it shows me without any refresh or without any action on interface,Please know me if you know any tutorial about this case.Do you AJAX code for that?
I heard that Gmail uses a hidden iframe for its Ajax calls. Regardless, you can easily do auto-updating without any user interaction by setting a repeating callback (with setTimeout or similar) which polls the server for updates every X seconds.
May someone give me code for these idea?(use settimeout and use Iframe)
Thanks in advance

Nope (that dosen't mean there is none)
But if you will study AJAX enough you will figure that out by yourself.

I've spent tonight trying to get jscookmenu to work in an ASP.NET project. Even in a html page, it works sometimes, but in an aspx, I have the following in my header:
<SCRIPT type="text/javascript" src="./menu-js/jscookmenu.js"></SCRIPT>
<LINK rel="stylesheet" href="./menu-js/ThemeOffice2003/theme.css" type="text/css">
<SCRIPT type="text/javascript" src="./menu-js/ThemeOffice2003/theme.js"></SCRIPT>
These files exist.
Then in the body I have this:
<DIV ID=MenuID11></DIV>
<SCRIPT type="text/javascript">
<!--
cmDraw('MenuID11', wbMenu11, 'hbr', cmThemeOffice2003, 'ThemeOffice2003');
-->
</SCRIPT>
The point is, theme.js defines cmThemeOffice2003, and cmDraw them passes this to the menu code. Instead I get an error that cmThemeOffice2003 is undefined. But it ISN'T. Does anyone have any suggestions what IE is really trying to tell me here ?

Are you using a correct path to the files? Put some alerts in the files and in the page, so that you see if the files are actually included, and if they are executed in the order that you expect.

Thanks - the path is correct, if I put the code into an ASPX either directly or through REgisterClientScriptBlock calls, it works fine. When I try to move the menu into my master page, or one of it's clients, the includes just don't seem to happen. Do you know of any issues with jscript includes in master pages ?

If you put the link tag or script tag in the master page, you have to specify the location of the file relative to the master page. If the page that uses the master page is in a different folder, the address will be corrected to still point to the correct file.
For an example if have the master page /Profile/Master.master that has the tag:
<script type="text/javascript" src="scripts/test.js"></script>
and use the master page in the page /Content/Info.aspx, the tag will end up as:
<script type="text/javascript" src="../Profile/scripts/test.js"></script>

im working in asp.net for quite a while. but still naive in asp.
i ve some asp web site pages, which i need to run and review.
i created a folder (say myapp) and created an application using IIS and put all the asp pages in that Folder.
when i run http://localhost/myapp/index.asp it throws error
page cannot be found "subfolder/header.asp"
"subfolder" is a folder inside "myapp" folder
i understand ( ) there is a code within the index.asp
which i learned as a server side includes.
how can i figure out whether my server (IIS) supports SSI. i ve .net 1.1 installed in my machine and can run asp.net applications well.
what i ve to do to include the subfolders inside "myapp" to the application to run it properly.
Thanks for ur attention,
Harsha

It does.

You have to write a proper path to the file that you want to include. As you are using a virtual path, it will start from the root of the web application. If you have created a web application for the folder, the root will be located at c:\inetpub\wwwroot\myapp . If you just created a folder inside the default web application, the root will be located at c:\inetpub\wwwroot . You have to write the path to the file relative to the root.
You can also use a relative path, by using the file keyword instead of virtual . Then you specify the path from the location of the page that is including the file.

Have you ever tried Google Notebook? After installing the software, it will add a button at the bottom-right corner of IE. Dose anybody know how to implement that ? Any reply is appreciated.
Thanks

Hi everybody
I'm trying to create a simple IM (based on IP), but I have far more basic problem.
I'm trying to ping my girlfriend's computer, but for some unknown reason I cannot see her ip (I'm getting "request time out").
my computer is connected to the net directly, while her computer is connected through a router to the net.
lets say that my internet IP is: 44.0.0.1(according to whatismyip.com)
my girlfriend's internet IP is: 77.0.0.1 (according to whatismyip.com)
my girlfriend's router IP (in her local network) is: 192.168.0.1
my girlfriend's computer IP (int her local network) is: 192.168.0.2
now, from my computer and her's I can ping to random sites like www.yahoo.com etc., but when I'm pinging from my computer to hers (from 44.0.0.1 to 77.0.0.1) I get request time out.
I REALLY don't understand why is that, and how to solve it (I will need it if I want to connect to her computer directly).
Besides, if I ever get this problem solved , I still need to direct myself into her comptuer in her local network (tell the router that I want to address 192.168.0.2 which is her computer).
Thanks alot for any kind of help! I am extremely stuck!

The router may be set up to not accept ping, or a software firewall on the computer may be.

No, you don't. You use the ip address of the router when you communicate with her computer. The router translates back and forth between the external ip address and the internal ip address.

Hi Friends,
I want to develop a system which allow users to upload large size files to web server.
I'll be using classical asp to do that,
I found some code on web and used that but it allows me to upload only small files.
Whenever i try to upload large file it doesn't show any progress.
is there any size limit for classical asp (for uploading files)?
Can any one help me compeleting this small application.
Any code or article will be welcomed.
tahnks

Are you doing this with a hosted server, or is it your own (or your company's). I ask, because it sounds more like ti could be an issue with the server.
If your server is hosted, I would contact your web hosts and ask them about it.
Words fade as the meanings change, but somehow, it don't bother me.

You could try using the AspUpload component. This allows you to specify a max size for you upload. If you set that above the highest size of the files you were trying to upload, it might possibly solve your problem.

Hi!
You should consider Server.ScriptTimeout value when you want to upload large files.
