Open up the command prompt for VS and type in aspnet_regiis - i at the appropriate location. That should install asp.net for you.

ViewState isn't just for examples, we use it in real sites also
only two letters away from being an asset

This is how you store info in View State:
ViewState["firstName"] = _firstName;
and this is how you retrieve info from View State:
_myName = (ViewState["firstName"]).ToString(); //make sure you type cast!
View State is useful if you want to hold onto data that should be available at all times, no matter which page/session users are in. But, it comes with a price! It will be fetched back and fort with each postback, and after encryption (you do want it encrypted!) it grows even bigger. You would typically want to keep your View State less than 500 characters, but up to 1000 characters is managable.

Does anyone know how to add multiple attributes (e.g. client function names) to one specific event? Im looking for a way to do this:
((HtmlControl)Master.FindControl("masterBody")).Attributes.Add("onload", "function1();");
Then from a different page, add this:
((HtmlControl)Master.FindControl("masterBody")).Attributes.Add("onload", "function2();");
Without writing over the existing attribute, because that's what it is doing now
Any help is much appreciated!

string OnLoadString = ((HtmlControl)Master.FindControl("masterBody")).Attributes["onload"];<br />
<br />
((HtmlControl)Master.FindControl("masterBody")).Attributes.Add("onload", removed + "function2();");
Unless I'm missing something
removed is actually OnLoadString but CP changes it

You ARE and asset! Thanks for the tip, I can be clueless sometimes

hi to all
what is the use of autopostback=true in asp.net with examples
regards
saravanan
|
|
|
|
|
Used when selecting an item in one control populates another control
|
|
|
|
|
The AutoPostBack property is used to set or return whether or not an automatic post back occurs when the user presses "ENTER" or "TAB" in the TextBox control.
If this property is set to TRUE the automatic post back is enabled, otherwise FALSE. Default is FALSE.

I have one page where the html comes from database, (I write the html using, by example, FreeTextBox).
The html is written correctly.
Now, I wish call some user controls inside of this html. By example, my web app has a UserControl what writes a copyright notice, let's call it "copyright.ascx".
Let's say what dynamic html, what comes from DB, has this content:
<b>Test </b>
This is a test <br /> Thank You <br />
<uc1:copyright ID="copyright" runat="server"></uc1:copyright>
<b>End of Test </b>
Of course, the copyright.ascx will not to be loaded, because the html code is loaded literally.
ASP.Net has some resource to accomplish this?
Regards...

You can pass the ASP.NET markup to the ParseControl[^] method and the result control to the container. And to make sure that the parser can understand the prefix tag of the user control, you also need to include the @ Register markup in the text or use the TagPrefixCollection [^] to programmatically register the tag name.
