again this is for a windows app not a console app. I need to start a console app but not display the console window????

A form is a class so you can deal with it by not having application.run and then just using showdialog or something. A console window appears regardless.

We are developing two applications using C#.Net 2005. I want to pass a string from one application to another.
For example if the user click a button in the application 1, I want to pass an string from this application(application1) to the another application(application2), also the application2 has to run simultaneously.
Plz any one suggest me, How to do this?

Use the windows messaging queue. You can pass messages between apps and even create your own queue. There is a chapter on it in the Wrox C# 2005 Professional Edition.

I don't think that you can do so. IF you were in one application you can pass between a form and another.
i advice you to save the data you want to use in the other application in a file or a database and then recover it using the second application

There are all sorts of ways of passing data between applications. MSMQ is one example already discussed in this thread. Named pipes, network connections (you can connect through the loopback adapter) and so on.

hi i have a small question / is it posible that i have an own webserver in my c# application?
windows xp home pcs dont have iis on board / this is the reason why want to implement an own server on an specified tcp port. how is that posible.

You could use something free like Apache. I don't know how easy it is to host ASP.NET applications on it, however, I've heard that it can be done.

Why? Your original request was to find a replacement for IIS as it isn't included in Windows Home edition. There are very few applications where you would want to embed a webserver - mostly those revolve around things like router and other network configuration tools. The main use of a web server is to run on a server box. If your intention is to run the application on the same machine as that running the server then you would be better off building a WinForms application.

hello
i'm trying to develop some logic that depends on the response i get from different system messages meaning that when a message box is displayed i want to apply some conditions if the user clicks on the Ok button, or some code takes effect if the user clicks Cancel button on the MessageBox.
the message box is the one that is usually displayed by
MessageBox.Show(""); method
can u please tell me if what i'm trying to do is possible?
if yes then please guide me how to do it

MessageBox.Show() returns one of the DialogResult values:
DialogResult.OK, DialogResult.Cancel, ... and so on ...

The Show method returns a value of the type DialogResult.
DialogResult result = MessageBox.Show("Hello world!");
The value of the return value reflects what the user did with the message box.
