Hello there
I am trying to move my CE based application from wCE 3/4 to vs 2005. I found out that all my database handling code needs to go into the bin, and I need to start from scartch...
My question, what should I use now - fro Windows Mobile 2003 / ARM architecture, C++ within vs 2005. It seems all my desire to use ADO is getting me to a dead end...
Hope someone can help
Thanks
Alex

Hi
Been working on a small app that switches the gprs connection when the network is down. The problem lies in disconnecting a gprs connection. The call to ConnMgrReleaseConnection does not work,i have heard that you can use rasenumconnections then call hangup, but i get a constant error message ras error 632 which says the structure size is invalid the code is as follows
[StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential, CharSet = CharSet.Auto)]
public struct RASCONN
{
public UInt32 dwSize;
public IntPtr hRasConn;
[MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.ByValTStr, SizeConst = 257)]
public string szEntryName;
}
// create a single rascon array
ConnectionManager.RASCONN[] connections = new ConnectionManager.RASCONN[maxRasConConnections];
connections[0].dwSize = (uint)Marshal.SizeOf(typeof(ConnectionManager.RASCONN));
// get the entries for the ras
int concount = 1;
int cb = Marshal.SizeOf(typeof(ConnectionManager.RASCONN)) * concount;
// enumerate the connections
int nRet = ConnectionManager.RasEnumConnections(connections, ref cb, ref concount);
it would seem that the dwsize is incorrect. its size is 540;
the program is designed to run on mobile 5
does anyone now a fix for this
thanks

Connection Manager in Windows Mobile 5.0 is designed not to disconnect an existing GPRS connection. In most countries GPRS connections are charged per byte, not per minute, so it doesn't cost anything to leave it 'connected'. No additional power is consumed by using the GPRS connection over simply having the GSM radio powered on, if you're not actively sending data.
Connection Manager will hang up the connection if asked to create a connection to a different APN.
I can't imagine that disconnecting the underlying connection from underneath the Connection Manager is a good idea. It's not expecting it so pretty much anything could happen. Always be wary of undocumented techniques.

Hello,
I am creating a PDA application using the CF 2.0 that will use a datagrid and will display time in one of the columns. The column is called "ScheduledTime" and in the sql server 2005 database the datatype is datetime.
I would like to format the time to display e.g. 21:45 24hr format.
I think the datagrid is very limited when using the CF for mobile applications as the property "format" doesn't exist for this. See my code below.
I am wondering is there another way to format time in a datagrid column using the CF 2.0.
Me.grdSupportContracts.DataSource = ds.Tables(0)<br />
Dim dgtbc As DataGridTextBoxColumn<br />
<br />
dgtbc = CType(Me.grdSupportContracts.TableStyles(0).GridColumnStyles(3), DataGridTextBoxColumn)<br />
dgtbc.Format 'Doesn't have the format property<br />
Many thanks in advance,
Steve

Hi,
I'm working with Windows Mobile 6.0 and I found 3 versions to SDK:
- SDK Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional;
- SDK Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard;
- SDK Windows Mobile 6.0 Classic.
Apparently, the Classic version is to Pocket, Standard version to Smartphone and the Professional version to Pocket phone.
Could I use the Professional version to develop to Smartphone?

Frankly, since Windows Mobile 6.0 is not yet public, you're probably in a better position to answer that than anyone else! Talk to your OEM, perhaps - or if you are working for an OEM, talk to your contact at Microsoft.

Hello everybody,
I try to realize an automatic connexion between a pocketPC and a home made bluetooth device. The goal is that a pocket pc user don't have to manually synchronize the bluetooth device.
So my C# application search every bluetooth devices around, connect to the one with the good name. With the InTheHand library i success with that.
Then, the problem: I try to open a new COM7 port in order to communicate with the bluetooth device and record this COM7 port into windows settings.
I didn't find anything to do that. So I look in the registry what happen when I manually open my serial port and try to do the same with my C# app.
The 'theory' is ok, it's work, everything is ok in Windows, my device is recorded and my COM7 port is also open and recorded.
But it's impossible to communicate with the bluetooth device...
I have a full documentation about what I did (in french) if someone can help or if someone have an idea...

Hi All
I have been researching, trying to find a method using activesync to sync a few tables between SQL CE V2 running on a symbol pocket PC 2003 and a SQL 2000 on the server. The problem stems that they won't have access to wireless or internet to use the SQL CE replication. Does anyone have a code sample of how to trigger a sync to activate when the activesync syncs the device?
Thank you,
Derrick

Hi,
I'm trying to use the BFFM_SETSELECTION command in a callback function;but, eVC complains it doesn't know what BFFM_SETSELECTION is. I've ensured that the proper header file (Shlobj.h) as well as the proper library (Ceshell.lib) file are either #included or in the project settings. However, every time I compile, it errors out.
Here's the line:
SendMessage(hwnd, BFFM_SETSELECTION, TRUE, (LPARAM)chDefaultPath);
error C2065: 'BFFM_SETSELECTION' : undeclared identifier
Any clues?

People,
Has anyone tried to program a TextToSpeech application using C# on Windows Mobile? Do you know any library or code sample how to do this? All methods I have found at codeproject relate to using Windows API, not mobile Windows, unfortunately.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I have tried to set the /Fixed linker option, and also set the base address to it.
I am sure that there is nothing in that address .
However, I still couldn't load the dll successfully.
I don't know why.
Does someone have the same problem?
Best regards,
Tim
