I have put the following code in my sorce code

I get the following error
The connection name 'Pubs' was not found in the applications configuration or the connection string is empty.
So my question is? Is Pubs the name of the database or table

No, it should be the name of the entry in your configuration file that contains the connection string to get to Pubs.

i want to convert the MSword file into the html format so that browser can show the doc file data as a html content which is exactly similar to the doc data format.

I assume you've already tried saving it in HTML format
from inside of Word? Am I missing something?

Actually i want to show one doc file in the explorer and its showing the content in explorer by setting the contenttype="application/msword" but it shows the all the marginbars and toolbar of word and i want to display the plain text of the doc file in the same format as word but as a html content so can u suggest me the way how to make an equivallent html of doc file.

Name declared as UserName on the loig page,to be display on the Member textbox on the next page.

Hi,
If you want to use Session for this, you will need to do it this way
Just before you redirect the user to the next page, save the User Name(details) in the Session variable like Session["UserName"] = source of the data.
Then when the user redirects to the next page, fetch it back from the same session variable like TextBox.Text = Convert.ToString(Session["UserName"])
Thats it. and you shld be done with ur requirement.

hai,
i have oone dprdown and one text box,below that save button .all the functions are working properly.but when i click on save button 1st time the action is not taking on second click the the data is saving ,what could be the problem,

Hi,
It would be better if you can post you page load and button click code. That would atleast give some idea as to where the error can be.. also post the html side of code (.aspx)

What is the code that you are using for the button click, if you are adding an onclick funtion to the button when the button is clicked, then th onclick function will only be created, not run the first time the button is clicked

I am trying to use a strem to download .Tif file to clients machines, but I am getting the error:
'The selected file is not a valid Microsoft Office Document Imaging file'
I have done some digging on google and it seems that there is a common problem with altering tif files over a network.
Has anyone else had this problem before and if so have they found a solution. The client system will be Windows XP and I think, they will be running Office 2003, though that is not confirmed so if there are multiple solutions then please can i have them.

Why do you open it as an image? Then you have to recompress it to send it to the client. Just send the file as binary data:
Response.ContentType = "image/tiff";<br />
Response.WriteFile("c:\data\pr0n.tiff");
(Verify that the mime type is correct, I only made a guess...)

Where does the error message come from? Does it occur when downloading the image or viewing it? What program is used to view the image? Can the image be viewed on the client machine if it hasn't gone through the process of downloading it, but copying it directly?

sorry for late reply,
I get the message after downloading when trying to open the file,andwhen trying to open it directly,strangelyit worked once earlier but then not again.
If it is copied directlythe image seems to be opening, but that won'tbe possible on the finished system.
The default viewer will be MS Image and Fax viewer

If it works when copied directly, but not when downloaded, that suggests that the file is not sent properly.
What does the code look like that sends the file? What content type are you using?

hey ya,
Rathe bizzarly its decided to start working properly now, I hav made a couple of changesto the process of uploading the files and that seems to have cleared it up.

I have a small doubt regarding asp.net class files.
What's the difference between class file and module file.
In asp.net we can use both of them module.vb of class.vb.
Exactly where they will differ and when we have to use them in a project.
which is the best option for,declaration of dataconnection??
Either in web.config or module.vb ???
Even though it is silly question, please can any one respond to this.

Scope. The scope of standard modules is the entire app life.
Class modules can be instantiated and destroyed anytime. I
put my connection strings and all related (encrypted) in
the stan. module..you can do either.

This is Urgent,
Can anyone tell me tht how should i use menu's in ASP.net application . I want only main menu's should be displayed . But when mouse pointer is taken over it , it should show me sub menus within it .And the sub menu should disappear again when pointer of mouse is taken away from main menu. If possible plz pass on the code.
