Hi All,
Im not able to run any web application (aspx).Once I press F5 Im getting the error
1)webdev.webserver.exe
unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application
2)unable to connect to visual studio's localhost web server
can any one pls help me to solve this ..

sounds like your web server software didn't install properly. What version of the of VS are you using?

It looks like it didn't install properly. Maybe try it again and make sure you select the option for the development server (if there even is an option, I didn't think there was).

Hi
I need to add another web.config file in one folder of my application because i dont want to apply security on this folder.
Now problem is when i add web.config and run any page under this folder it gives "Error while trying to run project" error.

Hi, I Just Started to build this project. Everything is going on well until I came to user login page. I am getting a error msg Error 1 'ASP.login_aspx' does not contain a definition for 'Login1_Authenticate' File: Login.aspx Line 24
May be I need a code to authenticate username and password.
Can someone provide me a good code for this in C#
Database is already created as ASPNETDB.MDF
I am using .NET 2005 to develop this.

-i wonder how to be a "Root Admin" "Administrator" and etc...user,could it be in the Asp.net Website Administration tool?if it is.how can it be done?how can i deny simple user or anonymous user to access all the file in the database?
-another is,could it be possible that i can create a database where the username column have now values and the user will decided for its own password for security?can be possible..for example my username stored in the database and i will sign up for its password,that will directly store in the database...and whenever i visited the site,i can now access the site...
--Just like myspace and other website that the user has its own "my settings"where the own user has its own control to his page..where to make it?could i be used "master page"???How can it be done??im thinking of a 1 default page or default.aspx web form,that every user default page whenever the user visit the website? does anyone would tell me how can it be done??

Hi all,
In my application iam using a public function binding which is for binding dataset to datagrid in webform1. I am calling this fuction from another web form say webform2. I got error in Datagrid1.Datasource
line saying {"Object reference not set to an instance of an object." }
I am not passing dataset . Just calling the binding function which
runs query, fill dataset & set the datasource of datagrid to dataset.
If iam running webform1 , binding function is working fine but when i call from webform2 its giving error .

your problem is in the Error.
You have not instatiated your object correctly.
Step through your code, and find out which object is null, and you'll find your problem.

this function is working fine in webform1 . But when i call this function from webform2 , datagrid.Datasource throws error .

It would appear to me that you are trying to instantiate a grid on a web form1
which is not visible at the time you are trying to bind to

What is required for my aspx to run on a linux operating system. Presently i m running my asp.net on Microsoft windows platform

I am not sure if Mono supports ASP.NET. What you need, is the .NET framework to run on Linux, and a web server that has an ISAPI filter to generate HTML from the .NET code. Mono gives you .NET on Linux, if it does ASP.NET or not, I do not know.

Mono does have ASP.NET but last time I checked (some time ago) it wasn't officially released and only implemented some of ASP.NET 2.0. Check it out for yourself: mono-project.com

hello,
i have a problem with my logout link when the page has some required field validations, i have a banner userConrol which contains the logout link.
the link works fine in other pages,
i forget to mention that i develop the website using VS2005 VB.NET

You want to set the CausesValidation property on your logout link to false. That way it will skip the validation for that page when that link is clicked.

Hi all,
i need basic idea about this Address validation process.
i am newbie to .Net technology, started working on a smaple project in .Net.
it's about dish networking services project. Once a new customer comes in, his address (including zip code) details are taken and validated for correctness. here Zip code is not sufficient to validate the correctness, In the same Zip code also, according to the place, and building direction we can't provide Dish Networking services. so, it is necessary to take the address details and validate the address with the data which is stored in the database.
so my doubt is how can i validate the address with database address details (backend data)??
because customers will enter the address in many ways....
please can anyone suggest me how to achieve this validation??

u can ask the user to enter the fields in the specified format u want and u can restrict them entering invalid data using javascript.

Thanks for the suggestion. but how can we restrict the user from entering invalid data.....i mean here we should not say invalid data.....but proper formatted data. if any user enters Ln instead of Lane (or) Rd instead of Road...
in our database the data is stored in a formatted way....do u think that without using 3 rd party address validation software like UPPS formatters etc., it is possible to achieve my problem using javascript??

Hi dear friends , I use VS .Net 2005 . I want to Convert a time string into a DateTime Object . I've used the following code :
{
IFormatProvider Culture = new CultureInfo("en-US" , false)
DateTime.Parse(txt_UpdateTime.Text,Culture,DateTimeStyles.NoCurrentDateDefault) ;
}
But it throw an exception with this message " input string is not in correct format" while the text of the txt_UpdateTime is something like "05:44" .
Plz help me if u have a proper solution . Thank you so much

The code you posted works on .NET 2.0 so I assume your problem is with 1.1 only.
try this:
