A recordset looks like a single table. If a recordset is to contain data from multiple database tables, it must use a JOIN query, which assembles the data from the various database tables into a single result table.
In contrast, a dataset is a collection of one or more tables. The tables within a dataset are called data tables; specifically, they are DataTable objects. If a dataset contains data from multiple database tables, it will typically contain multiple DataTable objects. That is, each DataTable object typically corresponds to a single database table or view. In this way, a dataset can mimic the structure of the underlying database.

DataSet is connection less
RecordSet is connection oriented
DataSet can have bi-directional move; from top row to bottom row and bottom row to top row of any table contained in it
RecordSet - Can only have uni-direction
DataSet - 3 dimension (having multiple tables. Tables|Rows|Cols)
RecordSet - 2 dimension (Rows|Cols)

whether the mails should b stored in a file structure or they should b stored in some varialbe of a database ...
which one is the more efficient method????

How you are storing date values in database ? Varchar or datatime ?
If varchar then
select * from table where InvoiceDate like '02/14'
select * from table where InvoiceDate like '02'
select * from table where InvoiceDate like '02/14/2007'
if datetime use day,month and year functions to search like this

It could be something like
--For checking day
select * from table where day( convert(datetime,yourdatetimecolumn) ) = yourday
--For checking day and month
select * from table where month( convert(datetime,yourdatetimecolumn) ) = yourmonth and day( convert(datetime,yourdatetimecolumn) ) = yourday
select * from table where convert(datetime,yourdatetimecolumn) = yourdate
I am not sure that this is the best way. But I think it can work according to u r requirement.

Suppose, if I enter a Empno and Date in TextBoxes then Report should display task details for that day for the given Empno?
