Hello,
Is there any way, or are there any tools to debug code used for design-time stuff by step-by-step debugging, breakpoints, etc.?
Thanks in advance,
Shy.

In visual studio you have a wonderfull debugger. just place breakpoints (in the column on the left) and use F10 or F11 to go step by step.

Normally, all you have to do is create a second project in the same Solution as your control project and create an instance of the control your testing in it. Set breakpoints as appropriate and start the test project.

Thank you both for your replies Ollie1986 and Dave Kreskowiak,
However, I think my intentions were not clear enough.
I do not wish to debug the code during application runtime, but rather at design-time.
Its possible that I didn't understand you both, but when I set breakpoints and keep designing my controls, they don't break code execution...
Help...?

It is possible. You need to start a second instance of the IDE and attach the debugger
to the first instance of the IDE (the one that you're using to design).
In the second instance of the development IDE use Debug -> Processes
In the Processes window select the first instance of the IDE and press Attach.
Kind of hard to explain
Maybe this will help[^]

Hi all,
I want to see if there is anyway to implement a C++ project into a C# project. I have a .cpp class that I want to use. Does anyone have any experience and can give me some sort of direction on how to do this. I am using Visual Studio 2005 and implementing in C#. Thanks!

I think, the easiest way is to create a new project in c++ enviorment - dll. It isn't much harder than creating single project. And than just add this dll to C# project.

Hi,
I'm trying to establish the following filter:
this.openFileDialog.Filter = "HTML files (*.html)|HTM files (*.htm)|PHP files (*.php)|All files (*.*)";
The thing is that only the HTML and PHP appear. The other two don't!
What's happening here?
Thx,
Nuno

Hi
I think your Filter should be:
this.openFileDialog.Filter = "HTML files (*.html)|*.html|HTM files (*.htm)|*.htm|PHP files (*.php)|*.php|All files (*.*)|*.*";

Hi,
In one windows application i.e. App1 , hashtables are populated.
Is it possible to use these hashtables in another windows application i.e. App2 ?
It seems not, because App2
What do you think please
Thanks

Hashtables are serializable if there underlying objects are serializable. To share across app domains you can use same system remoting, windows messaging, and/or the file system to share applications.

Have just finished developing a windows application. I do not want to use crystal report in displaying report from my database. Can I use a browser (Internet Explorer) to display my report from the database Offline?, can it support the use of parameters in generating the report? If YES, Please furnish or direct me to where I can get the resouces to achieve this task. Please Note - It is a window standalone application (Not an intranet nor web application.

Hello,
have some problems with debugging windows service. When trying attach to service process then "Attach" button is disabled. Any idea why?
Greetings

This usually happens when the service is no longer running. The service starts, then stops almost immediately.
What's casuing this depends on how you wrote your service. Normally, a service is written so that in the Start event, an object is created that starts a new thread where all of the service work is performed. You should NEVER put your work code in the Start event, only the code to start the worker thread goes in there.

Don't forget the loop! I always seem to forget a loop in my threads to keep them from exiting.

Hello
I read this from Professional C#,Wrox:
"However, it is possible for a delegate to wrap more than one
method. Such a delegate is known as a multicast delegate. If a multicast delegate is called, it will successively
call each method in order."
It is also said in that book:
"If you are using multicast delegates, you should be aware that the order in which methods chained to
the same delegate will be called is formally undefined. You should, therefore, avoid writing code that
relies on such methods being called in any particular order.
"
Can methods in delegation run in special order?
|
|
|
|
|
I would suspect them to run in the order they are populated. They are usually added by +=, so they must be in some sort of collection, and every list or collection has a basic order. He says you shouldn't rely on it, and I can understand why as it is probably not very reliable. I'll try to look into it soon.
Visual Studio can't evaluate this, can you?
public object moo<br />
{<br />
__get { return moo; }<br />
__set { moo = value; }<br />
}
|
|
|
|
|
Use GetInvocationList() from your delegate. This will give you the full list of listeners. You can then roll your own call order from the mechanism that fires them, ie the OnX method.

My problem is to open design view of report so that end user can design report acording to his choice...
is it possible to open design view of rdlc or crystal report at runtime to give control to end user.
