Are you setting the visibility on client-side or server-side with AutoPostBack for the CheckBox? Controls with Visible = false set on the server-side do not exist on the client-side.

thanks for ur reply, but iam sure that the error in that code cuz i tried to commit the maintainScrollBarPostionOnPostBack and i dunt have the error. i think that the problem occurs when Smartnavigation and MaintainScoll exists tpgather. is that right ? any whay this is th FillDeptCombo code :

Though I don't know why the overflow occurs (and don't think it could be figured out from just this sample), I'd like to point out that Page.SmartNavigation and Page.MaintainScrollPositionOnPostBack mostly refer to the same thing. 2.0 introduced the latter, and declared the former as deprecated.
"The SmartNavigation property has been deprecated. Use the SetFocus method and the MaintainScrollPositionOnPostback property instead." - From the MSDN documentation

thanks for ur reply too, i know that they do the some thing and the Smartnavigation is a method in .NET2003 and MaintainScrollBar is a .NET2005 method, But is that a reason for an error.
but do u know somthing, i forget to tell you that its not a compilation error it occurs at runtime as an alert but the data appears and nothing wrong. sorry for that mistake

I am trying to find a grid / table which will let me set the cols/rows from the code behind file, and which will raise a server side event (with cell details) when a cell is clicked. Is this possable? and if so could someone point me in the right direction?

Hi,
I am trying to set a grid or tables properties (num of rows, num of Cols, cell text, etc) from the server side before the page is displayed to the user. Then when the user clicks on a cell I need an event to fire on the server side so I can perform a database lookup.

if i am right to understand u then u want to bind gridview and want to display data in gridview then when any cell will be clicked u want to perform some operations.
then u need to do this.
write this code in your page load event.
dim dt as datatabel
dt = get data table from database
grid.datasource = dt
grid.databind()
now on grid's property of selected index chaging u can do any opertion.
in gridview add one column as comman column type of select.

The grid isnt connected to a database - its simply displaying a list of available times / items eg
Item1 Item2
10:00
11:00 x y
I suspect that I need some third party grid / table, which I can specify rows, cols, text etc. I can write the HTML to create a table but cant seem to find a way to this in the PAGE_Load event, and then get a server side event to fire.

if it's directoly displaying data in gridview then set this.
if u need something that on item click u need any operation then i am sugesting u that for every item create one datatabel and bind it to grid view.

try this
in page load event write this.
dim dt as new datatable
dt.column.add("Item")
dim dr as datarow
dr = dt.newdatarow
dr.item("Item") = "test"
dt.rows.add(dr)
dr = dt.newdatarow
dr.item("Item") = "test12"
dt.rows.add(dr)
so now u have 2 rows in datatable.
now bing this datatable to gridview.
in gridview add one template column.
in that add one linkbutton,
and linkbutton's proerty set command = "select"
and in html u write this to text = '<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Item")%>'
so it will display all items as linkbutton u can click on that and can perform any opration in select index changing event of gridview...

Hi,
I am working in asp.net 2.0 with C#. Now i have to send some mail messages from my web page to some email address.
I have tried some methods, in some cases it works without any errors. but it never deliver mails to the destination address.
Will anybody help me to solve this: if you have any working samples please let me know

It could be any number of problems unfortunately. Some that I can think of are:
1) SMTP Server not setup
2) SMTP Server not forwarding emails
3) Network issue
4) Email address incorrect
5) Junk mail rules stopping email
