How to create an Outlook Add In using VB2005

Just make them lazy initialised properties. That is, do this:

private Bitmap _mySkin;

private Bitmap MySkin
{
get
{
if (_mySkin == null)
{
_mySkin = LoadFromResources("mySkin");
}

return _mySkin;
}
}

Where LoadFromResources is a method you provide.

Then, you just reference MySkin, not _mySkin. Or, you can just load the bitmaps in your constructor or Load event.

I want to use VB2005 (VSTO) to create an add in for Outlook. I have read a lot, and tried a lot. I know how to create the add in, and how to show a dialog box when Outlook fires and when it's being closed. Those events are in the code that is created by VB. Now how can I add a button to the toolbar that, let's say, scans the messages of last week for a keyword entered by the user?

Any help would be greatly appericiated.

How can I change VS 2005 shortcuts so CTRL + DOWN ARROW does the Edit.ScrollLineDown (Scrolls text down one line) command.

Tools -> Options -> Environment -> Keyboard -> Select command and apply new keyboard key combo

I need to develop a Windows Form application that has a sophisticated multipane or "paneled" User Interface.

I don't mean MDI, but various different panels that the user can move, resize, close, etc. to his/her own liking. Something like the Visual Studio UI.

Before re-inventing the wheel, I am wondering if there are any useful classes, examples, walkthroughs, articles or tips about this.

search using select statement

hiya, ive created an application in VB 6 where i have connected a database to the vb. i use recordset to update, delete, add records, but i want to create an invoice, ive created the data report without a problem, but i want to search through the records.

i thought i could do this by having a text box (name txtsearch) a command button (CmdSearch)

this is my code on the text button.

Private Sub CmdSearch_Click()

name = txtsearch
name = UCase(customer)

Select Case customer

Case "'name'"

End Select

i just cant get it to work, not used Vb in a few years properly, any help would be great thanks

1) what's customer?
2) you populated the variable name with the content of txtsearch then in the next statement you replaced the variable name with the content of customer
3) you uppercased customer and then asked if it equals a lower case 'name'
4) unless 'name' is actually stored that way you'll never get a hit

Hi!

In my project some strings use international char values such as "ŞİĞÇÜÖ". When I use Instr function to check existence of a specific character in runtime, it doesn't detect these characters. How can I solve the problem? Thanks.

Is this VB6 ? If not, you should not use msgbox or Instr, you should use the .NET methods provided, such as string.Contains and MessageBox.show.

I know what I am asking is simple and u all probably did it before, but I have a delivery time within 2 hours and I am so confused from the varies things I tried to do so Please help:

I have a web service that returns a Dataset with Values, I access this DataSet successfully in a VB Application, all I need is to pass these Values to Crystal report ( that's All!!)

Guys, Please send me a very detailed solution as I am confused and under stress.

Hi,

Yes it is Helpful, but my problem is I can't connect normally to the dataBase as this example , I use the web service so I am unable to choose the table from the connection.

I tried to connect to Web service from the Dataset but I don't see my Dataset there.

So the real problem is not Crystal, it's that you don't have a dataset to start with ?

Hi,

I have a Dataset coming from the web service but I can 't set it to the Crystal normally by dataConnection because I have no access to the sql Server ( I access it by Web service)
So If I simply create an empty Crystal report and Set My DataSource to it as below:
Dim MYReport As Crystal = New Crystal
MYReport.SetDataSource(EmployeeStatusDataSet) 'dataset have values
Me.CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = MYReport

An error appears no tables in Report.
