I found a solution , i changed the code from For index = 0 to RTB.Length to For Each String in RTB.Lines() and it started working,what i meant by proper was,irrespective of the no of lines in the rtb ,rtb.length always returned 0 ,now that i've resolved it i don't think it really matters

Hi All!
I'm a newbie programmer developing a Text Editor with built-in Text-To-Speech Capabilities.
I am writing this application using the VB .NET Framework.
I am having trouble using the Redo() Method in my code. When I use the Redo() keyword in my RedoToolStripMenuItem_click procedure I get an error saying that "Redo is not a Member of System.Windows.Forms.TextBox". My line of code that generates the error is as follows:
txtEditor.ReDo()
TxtEditor is the textbox in which I am trying to implement the method. How can I use the Redo method to be able to complete the RedoToolStripMenuItem_click Procedure?

You must to use a RichTextBox to call the Redo method.

Thanks MatrixCoder! I've replaced the Text Box with a Rich Text Box and the Redo method works perfectly!

OK - very new. You can't invent keywords. there is no redo keyword. You need to write your own.
So, you need to keep track of the things you undo, so you can reapply them when you call redo.

i using datagridview to display data. i just have 2 column of record to display it. After i binidng the data inti datagridview,what i can see is the datagridview consist 2 column and remaining is the background of the datagridview.So, how can i do to add another blank column to fill the remaining space inside the datagridview? so the datagridview have 3 column and total width of the 3 column is equal to the width of the datagridview ?

i think you can't add more columns to a binded datagridview, but why don't you set the width of last column to fill the empty space

Hey Experts thanks in advance.
I am trying a client server application in vb6 using Winsock. The application works well on system where vb6 is installed but the problem i can't run the applications on clients in which vb6 hasn't been installed.
When i load the application it gives some sort of error message like winsock can't be detected or loaded.
I tried to recover by registering winsock from the command promt using
regsvr32/{path}/winsock.dll but again it can't be registered and error message is displayed "i.e winsock was registered but the entry point can't be detected !
And the application doesn't work
So plz anyone help me. Once again thanks in advance....

Hi I am new to .NET and just started coding in vb.net. I have a form (main form)that has a bound datagridview and when I click on one of the rows, I find the record and display it on a new form(update form). The textboxes in this new form are also bound to the same dataset. When I make changes to this record on this form, I am able to change the actual data in the database, but my row in the datagridview in the previous form does not change. I have to show the previous form to show the changes I made. How do I reflect my changes from my update form to just one row in the datagridview?
Please help! I tried everything, but nothing helps..

Does anyone know how to select a specific row in a datagrid without having to click on the grey box to the left of each row?
IE if I have a datagrid "My_DataGrid" that looks like below:
Line# Name
1 Bob
2 Joe
3 Mike
If I use the code below and click anyware on the data Grid (Ie on the Joe field) I get UserName = Bob

have a question that i hope someone can help me with.
I have over 25 years experience programming allen bradley,omron,automation direct plc'c, and have always used the hmi software and units that you would purchase from these vendors as well.
I am interested in learning visual basic, and was hoping someone could lead me in the right direction as to what would be a good book, web site etc., that could help someone who has no visual basic experience, learn how to use vb and connect to a plc and read data from the plc.

I have an application where on a lot of my ASP.NET pages i need to add text boxes which collect First Name, last Name, Age, Company Name etc and has a button which when clicked enters the above mentioned data into the database.It needs to be entered to the same database table all the time.No, I cannot use session info. I wanna know if it is possible to create a custom web control which does this? So I can add it to my tool box and drag and drop onto my pages as and when I need it. I havent seen instances where you can create a control which does db operation. I know you can use User controls(.ascx) but that way, it needs to be included in every project and every one can see the code and know whatz happening behind it. Help is appreciated. Samples are appreciated even more!!!

I am trying to run an insert for each row on a datagridview that is selected (checkbox on 0 column index). My problem is that the @articleID parameter is not selected from the correct row. I want the to pick up the articleID from the row that is being iterated through. Looks like the currentrow syntax isn't working. Any suggestions?

In the application I'm currently working on the users don't have admin rights on the network but one of the requirements for the application is for the application to search the Active Directory to ensure the login name provided is valid before adding a new agent. If the searching user needs admin rights, and the users performing this process dont have admin rights, how can I get this to work for them, as it is essential?

If all you're doing is looking up a user in the directory, you shouldn't need admin rights to do it. If you're creating new users in the directory, that's something totally different. The user will most likely need to have the appropriate rights to create the User object in the target container.
If you're absolutely sure the user is going to need admin rights, they are going to have to have admin rights. You simply can't get around this in your code since all code the user launches is running under their security context, and all the limitations it imposes.

Thanks for your reply. The managers performing this process wont be creating new users in the AD, just in the database (the user is added to the AD via the network admins) so now I know I have no problems. The application simply needs to search the AD to ensure the login they're adding to the database exists for that new agent.
