I have a database and connected onto it, so now, I want everytime I select an item in the combo box on the web page to display contents of the database related to that same selected item.I want it to be an action performed event than for me to select an item and click submit.I don wana click submit.

You will have to use the combobox SelectedIndexChanged event, write the necessary logic inside this event to populate the content from the database.

Populate the combo box from the database and this has to be done dynamically if u ned help will give it.
Right Click on the combo and say properties.In the proprties you will see something called auto post back set it to true.
But u will have to change the code accordingly.

Hello!
I just uploaded my first ASP.NET 2.0 application to my new webhosting provider.
At the moment I have a fractal drawing program on it.
This code worked perfectly on my PC with Web Developer.
Unfortunately, on my site it doesn't work, because when you want to draw a second picture you need to refresh the screen with the browser to get to see the new picture. This picture is stored in a bmp file in my root directory.
I looked at a Refresh() method, but this method is in System.Windows.Forms which isn't available in Web Developer.
Can anybody tell me where to search to find an answer to this problem? Do I need to add a statement to the Page_Load method maybe?

I have seen an issue where if you reuse the same name in the bmp file there is a caching problem. If you are doing this, you have two options. First you can choose a new name for the bmp file each time. Second you can force garbage collection which seems to help.

The image is cached by the browser. Add a unique value as a querystring to the image to make it unique. Example:
You can use a large random number as a "unique" number. The risk that you hit the same number twice is so small that you can disregard it.

I tried this, and I am sure it will solve my problem, but that I now encountered the problem that I couldn't figure out how to set outputPicture.ImageUrl to some value. Somehow the Url for this picture kept resetting to an empty string.
Could someone say anything sensible about this?

I hope someone can help me.
I wrote an application using membership and roles with which I was very pleased, I tested it on my local system but when I tried to use it on my hosting system ASPServeur I ran into serious problems.
To integrate membership and roles to your application database you need to run aspnet-regsql to create required objects in your data base, but my host wont let you execute this routine on my hosted database.
I then tried to generate a script for the membership and roles objects from my local system, again my host won't let this script run ( there seems to be authorisation issues in the stored procedures).
I can not believe that such an important function is blocked if you want host your application
Can anyone suggest a way to use the security options on a hosted system.

I would consider using a PlaceHolder control. If this wraps your table you should be able to set the placeholder control visible or not in the code behind page. You might need to nest it:

<asp:PlaceHolder id="PlaceHolder1" runat="server">

</asp:PlaceHolder>

Personally I like to use panels. I just place the tables and all other controls in it and then display the panel when I want to.

I need make a text editor like we have in Yahoo Mail when we are composing mail ie; I can make text(ie body of mail) bold, change the color or any other thing.
Finally when I click on save it should be save in Database in HTML format and while retriving it display in text format but not in HTML format.

Our company has Mercury IT Governance tool, this is a software developed in Java/J2EE to give portfolio management. Mercury gives various web services to use the tool. One of such web service WSDL content I am attaching for your reference. I am able to add web reference to this WSDL file, but The problem is I am unable to call the web methods, in fact I am getting the error while compiling the site.
Error 10 Unable to import binding 'RequestSoapBinding' from namespace 'http://mercury.com/itg/dm/1.0'. App_WebReferences/WebReference/
Can anyone kindly tell me what does this error mean?

I have master page/contant page. And in javascript i am accessing my content page controls like
document.getElementById('ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_TxtFName').focus();
I know this approach is wrong, because it is one way of hard coding for ContentPlaceHolder1 name.
How i can avoid this? If possible, please share some sample code....Thanks!!
