Some type of malware is causing that. it can be installed on the pc (installed upon first internet connection) to remove it use some spyware remover or antivirus (spyware remover: lavasoft ad-aware or spybot search and destory, for antivirus look at avast) then to make sure that it doesnt come back use a good firewall, i perfer kerio, but something more simple would be zone alarm.
(note that the message is the malware or network attack, whatever you do don't download their software, its bad software posing to be good security software..)
Google the programs i named and you will find them...

It's a harmless message being received using the Network Messenger protocol, from the Messenger service. Go to the Services console in Control Panel, Administrative Tools and stop this service, then go to Properties for the service and disable it. The fact that the message is getting through shows you have no firewall - very dangerous - and the fact that the service is enabled indicates you are not running XP SP2, which means that you are not getting Microsoft's latest security updates. If you do not keep up to date and use a firewall, you run serious risk of your computer being compromised by one of the many attacks targetting remote code execution vulnerabilities in Windows and other software on your computer.
I recommend that when you reinstall your PC, if your Windows disc is XP SP1 or RTM, UNPLUG FROM THE INTERNET FIRST - physically unplug your modem or router from the phone line or other outgoing connection (saves accidents). Then, after setting up your internet connection, turn ON the XP firewall under the network connection's Properties page, Advanced tab. Only then should you reconnect your internet connection.
If you're not sure what version the Windows disc is, it doesn't hurt to do this anyway. If the disk is SP2, it will ask whether you want to enable Automatic Updates during the setup phase.
Then go to Control Panel, Internet Options and click Use Blank under Home Page. This ensures that if your default page contains anything dodgy (generally unlikely, but if you have a customised version of IE on your install discs it could do something).
As the very next thing you do, before doing anything else, go to Windows Update and download all the updates. Reboot when it tells you, keep doing this until XP SP2 and all the newer updates are installed. I normally opt-in to Microsoft Update so that Office, Visual Studio, SQL Server, etc are all kept up-to-date too.
You should ensure you're running up-to-date anti-virus software. I use AVG - the free edition[^] is available for non-commercial use.

Dear anyone how read this,
Is there anyway to distinguish between inputs from different mouses in a C++ or C# application?
Thank you in advance!!!

Unless you have a hardware solution and drivers that supports this, there's no way to tell the difference. Not even at a low level with a mouse hook.

Hello,
I need a software to protect the software in a usb pen drive that prevent the unauthorize user copy.
I think that the software should retrieve the serial number of the usb pen drive, and I will compile this serial number with the source code of the program ?
How to retrieve the serial number of a usb pen drive ?
thanks

You've made the classic mistake of assuming that there is one. Most don't expose one. What you want isn't really possible. Media is media, be it magnetic, reflective, or silcon. The only way you're going to prevent unauthorized USE (you cannot prevent unauthorized copying!) is to use a hardware key dedicated to the purpose of protection. The USB drive is NOT that piece of hardware.

Have you defragged it recently?

Ya did defragmentation.... but i did not format it for a long time ( atleast one year )

Did you defragment it or did you DEFRAGMENT it?
Ever since Windows Defrag ruined one of my disks I have been using O&O Defrag, which works a LOT faster (2 hours for a 80 GB partition on a SATA disk, filled with 79 GB of data) and does much better optimation.
Get a trial version of O&O Defrag (which is the only defragger I can recommend, sorry) and defrag your disk, THEN try again.
Also, you might want to create an image of your disk with a working, freshly installed Windows on it, so that you can get back to the "fast" state easily.

hi i am having hp pavilion 061 machine. theres speaker in the system itself. hoe to enable. does it need any cables?

If the speakers are internal (I'm assuming they built-in to the monitor), and you want to use them, then no you do not need any cables. Unless I misunderstood your question. Now if you want to hook up a new pair of speakers, then yes you would need cables.

yes they built in to the cpu. but it doesnt work

Hmmm... I never heard of speakers being built-in to a CPU. Could you please send me a link to your computer's manufacturer/model web site? I can't find your model anywhere. A HP Pavilion 061, right?
Also, have you checked your settings and drivers in Control Panel -> Sound and Audio Devices ?

I am studying the impact on perfomance while a migration of a 32 softawre to 64 bits.

Off the top of my head, only thing I can think of is watching out for portability issues... It wouldn't hurt to turn on warning flags in the compiler to see how the migration will go.

What are the best applications for perfoming tough, hard read and write testing of a hard drive to make sure it is 101% perfect (well as perfect as a hard drive can be..)? Ive been playing around with Seagate's SeaTools, but id like some program which also writes, and verifys the written data, many times..
Anybody know of such applications?
They must be like boot disks/CDs etc
thanks!
(hope this isnt posted many times, got 501..)

The staff of the German computer magazine c't (www.heise.de/ct) has written a good benchmarking tool for windows (h2benchw), which is available here:
c't Software Tools, Freeware (neither PD nor OSS)[^]
As for boot disks: Look into the EBCD (Emergency Boot CD) and UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD) projects, they both offer benchmarking tools as well.

The German tool seems nice, but im looking more for bad sector detection, and i have some hard drives which im extremly sure are bad, but so far all programs that just read havent detected any faults. The hard drive tool from UBCD is good too, but it only scanned.
I wonder if there are any ones that really read, write, compare and stuff..

My computer, like most, has a whole bunch of USB ports on the back, and a couple on the front. They have all got something plugged in... printer, keyboard, mouse etc...one of them has my wireless broadband connection gadget...
Every now and then, Windows (XP) pops up a messagbox saying:
This device can perform faster...will function at reduced speed when plugged into a non-HI-SPEED port.
It then lists all my port for me, telling me to plug it into a HI-SPEED one, which it tells me are listed in bold:
+ SS PC to USB Enhanced Host Controller
+ USB Root Hub (8 ports)
D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G122 Wireless USB Adapter(rev.C)
Unused port
Unused port
Unused port

What the b*h* is it going on about?

It means you plugged a USB 2.0 (high speed) device into a USB 1.0 (low speed) port.
|
|
|
|
|
I know it's saying that, but not why is it saying it.. All the ports listed are the 8 that belonging to the "USB Root Hub (8 ports)", which is Hi-Speed. And why is it telling me that 7 of them are unused when they are not?
Or have I got the wrong end of a big stick here? (I don't understand hardware...)
