Hi,

I need to show up some value in the file control as soon as the page is loaded!
the form is sort of an edit page so when user clicks edit we should display the path in the file control (this path would be selected by the user itself intitially)

Tried writing javascript in onlaod event but that didnt work!
How to programatically assign a value to this control.
iam using vs.net 2003 and c#

In your page load event (C# code server side) you can set the property according to the user selection.

eg:

fileControl.Filename = userPassedFilename;

All popular browsers denies update of control value from JavaScript because it can be very dangeruos security hole (intruder can upload file from user's local host by very simple legal script).

As a result one solution which I can propose - show previosly uploaded file name near to upload control (above it for example) so user can copy file path to upload it from correct place.

Hi,

This is partially what my drop down list looks like:

<option value="">None</option>

<option value="3">Region 3</option>
<option selected="selected" value="4">Region 4</option>
</select>

I am looking for code to set the drop down (and to trigger ddlRegions_SelectedIndexChanged) to the None option, I tried the following piece of code and it did not work:

ddlddlRegions.Items.FindByValue(string.Empty).Selected = true;

Please can someone help advise what to do?

Thanks, it does set the value to None, but it does not trigger ddlRegions_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e). I need it to trigger because there are other drop down lists that depend on this one. If this is set to None, then the other drop down lists will also reset. I hope you understand?

If you are setting the drop down list value to none in the page load it wont call the selected index changed event..
Is it so??
By the way have you set the autopostback of the drop down list to true???
Check that first!!

Hi,

I am using GridView to display a large set of data(2,80,000+) records in GridView. It can be done using Paging support but i should not use that.

Following are the problems for which i am trying to find the solution :

1. Adding scrolling support to GrdiView and retrieving relevent records at runtime as user scrolls through GridView. In other words, as user scrolls through the GridView, records should be retrieved and show to user.

2. GridView has hyperlink buttons. when clicked on them, selected row details are shown in a page within popup window. when this popup window is closed, row selected has to be visible in Gridview i.e is there a way to scroll a GridView based on row index selected?

I am new to ASP.NET and i don`t have much idea how to go about implementaion details on these two. I will be glad if someone can help me out.

Hi..

Metakeywords is a simple property I defined in the default page to get a member value:
string metakey; .Its code as following:

I have used the viewstate trying to solve the problem but it doesn't make any different.
This property exist in three places:

1-default page.
2-a usercontrol(I called it welcome) in the default page.
3-a usercontrol which is loaded dynamically (in code behind) into the welcome usercontrol using the code:

contentList.Controls.Add(Page.LoadControl("UserControls/FieldContentsList.ascx"));<br />
FieldContentsList fieldus=(FieldContentsList)contentList.Controls[0];<br />
this.Metakeywords=fieldus.Metakeywords;

The problem is:I want to set the property in the (3-) usercontrol and get the value in the (1-)default page.

Could any one help me to solve this problem.

When user type keyword "Economics Review" it will transfer the keyword to compare with sql query if it found Economics it will dispaly Economics and Review is found will also display but i want to find only the keyword "Economics Review"

try using like statement by the following way coz i had the same issue and i have succeed with the below technique

select * from <tablename> where <column name=""> like '%Economics%' and <column name=""> like '%Review%'

this query does not work it says Syntax error in update statement.

when Executed in access Query it work Fine..

Even if you did get it to run without a syntax error it doesn't do anything. It will only set check to true where check is already true.

By the way, did you mean check=1

my another doubt is, if user disable javascript in his browser, can we invoke a javscript function???
is there any solution for that??

i have some javscript functions and i saved it in a .JS file.
for example RoundVal().
i want to invoke his function for rounding a textbox value on its blur event,even client disable javascript in his browser??

All I ever wanted is what others have....

RegisterClientScriptBlock adds the script to the top of the page, RegisterStartupScript at the bottom Smile | :)

No you can't - think what a security hole that would be if we could....
