Hi,
I am a visual c++ beginner and have problems simply adding a reference to a library. when I click on Project>Properties>Common Properties>References>Add New Reference the list is completely empty and even when I add paths, where the libraries I want to use are stored, the References list is still empty. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Do you get any error? and its on the current project or all projects?

I dont get any error. Its just that the list is empty and therefore I cannot add and choose any libraries. I have created only one project so its on the current one.
I have implemented following example

and I cannot add the library because it is not found  With VB on the other hand I dont have any problems adding references.

First, please don't throw down any more "With VB" stuff or this will end badly.

That example is for a "Native" project. If you want a "Mixed Mode" project you have to turn on the CLR setting in the project. After that the .NET assemblies will be found in the Add References window.

i want to create database at runtime in mfc or c++....
actually i wanna make a .exe in which i can create a database n then create tables n then put data in it at run time....

you seem to have a lack of database knowledges.
you create a DB once, otherwise, you'll loose everything you previously put in it.
moreover, did you know that google was your friend ?
you asked for a too generic question. dig a little more by yourself, then ask for a specific question.

i know it.. but its my requirement tht if im making some project 4 a client...but if i hav to deal with diffrent clients n i hav to make always new database 4 a new client..then how i hav to make it...i m doing a s/w in which i hav to make a exe 4 our client...in which as i run exe it by should default make an databse if nt present n then do all...plz help me...i hav searched a lot...but i need something in mfc or c++

I am making a software..
In which i have to make a exe in which when ever i run tht exe on client side and if at client site computer if i run this exe then if there is no database then code should make a database n then create tables n all...plzzzzzzzz help me...i need to submit this part by 1hr..

I write a program,when I configure it to compiling using static libaray in release version,the program would crush at runtime somewhere.
But it works well in debug mode.
Someone would tell me why?

there has a listen socket,when new connect come in,it create a new thread with a socket can communicate with the remote PC.
But if it runing at release mode,it would crash.
