when the content placeholder is expanded in length, it appears behind the controls placed at the bottom of *.aspx page, i mean the coctrols dont move down, main design is in master page, other pages which rely on master page have different lengths, how to maintain different lengths og content palce holder on different pages

this happens only if ur contentplaceholder in master page has positioning - absolute
so remove the positioning of all controls from ur master page as well as content page
so that their positions automatically change when size of contentplaceholder changes

Hi guys.
Something that mite be stupit but problematic to me.
I have links on my HTML, that link to asp pages but when I click on the link, I get a open-save dialog box.When I click open, it opens in Dreamweaver instead of running the page.
Did I do something wrong??

go to Controlpanel -> Add remove programs -> Set program access and Defaults -> custom -> choose default as Internet Explorer & click on ok.
if u face same problem..
go to C:\WINDOWS\inf -> right click on ie.inf -> select the "install" menu.
You will need your XP installation disk for this.

Yes, you should run ASP pages needs a server, It won't work like when you link from HTML untill it is configured in IIS. I think you opened the HTML page by double clicking it. It is not running from server, you need to run the HTML file from server. So address would be something like http://localhost/yourvirtualdirectoryname/ASPFile.ASP. This will solve problem

I test them from my wwwroot folder.They should work jus fine.But I don knw wat is wrong.Unless they dont want the wwwroot folder.

alignment of controls changes in visual studio.net, i am using ASP.Net with C# and designing a website, whenever i start visual studio.net, the alignment og images buttons etc is changed, also the content place holder is moved fron its position

hello frnd,
have the give the content size in %
oR in pixcel or pt ???
use the width and height in % not in px or pt
use the structure to to place all your control,
don't use the drag drop facility ir will disturb your control when screen size changed
after u have finised with your work do lock all forms

Hi this may be a daft question but here goes anyway...
Ive got a page set up to manually edit a record in our database, here is the update string:
SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [products]" UpdateCommand="UPDATE products SET ManufCode = @ManufCode, ShortDesc = @ShortDesc, ManufName = @ManufName, LongDesc = @LongDesc, CategoryShort = @CategoryShort, CategoryName = @CategoryName, Price = @Price, PhysicalQty = @PhysicalQty, [Image] = @Image WHERE ([ProductCode] = @ProductCode)">
Now this seems to work find apart from say for example i type the following
Manuf Name = mike
Short Desc = abc 1
Short desc and manuf name swap places, abc1 added to the manufname column and 'mike' gets added to the short desc column
i dont understand why? any ideas?
sorry if this sounds confusing but its difficult to explain.

in my application i am storing values in a cache variable.i want to retain the value till the application closes. it is coming correctly. the problem is when another user takes the same application cache variable is havingthe previous users cache value.can i create new instance of that cache variable? or any other method?..........

If so place what user currently placing in the cache into the users session.

This may not be elegent but could you stick the dataset into the cache and use the datatable default view Rowfilter property to get the user specific stuff?

Hi,
I am developing an application using vb.net. it generates an exe for running the project we have to execute that exe properly.My problem is that now i want that a particular user can use my exe for one month only after that it will show an message that you have to install again that exe. so i want some help for implementing that in vb.net. how can i do that.

To make things simple, a registry key is the way to go. It must be encrypted in a decryptable way. Invent your own cryptography algorythm, this way not everyone can figure out what the encryption means. Do NOT give the key a name that describes the program, or simply give a number as the key's name.

Hi guys and Gals Im new to this so here goes, I already have a site of my own www.ukcoldwar.org.uk This I built myself on frontpage, each page is indivdually built which when wanting to change logo's etc makes it very hard....
So my question is this. I want to build a new site where the hearder anf ooter are standard and the content changes.... I have been looking round the site and am totally lost.. Can any one point me in the right direction ??
