Amit Kumar G wrote: a) How data is trasnfered from client to server and vice versa on Internet.? Is it binary format or something else....
Data is transferred on HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) which sits on top of TCP/IP. As the name suggests it is a text based protocol.
Amit Kumar G wrote: b) Where viewstate is stored? Is it on server memory?
On the page. While the server is processing the page a copy be held in the ViewState property.
Amit Kumar G wrote: c) Type are stored in which namespaces? Is it system?
Types in general? Or the Type type. There is a class called System.Type. But types, in general, are placed in the namespace in which they were defined.

Most code I've seen has little explanation. People really need to learn how to document code.

As a more sensible answer. There are open source projects out there that already do this. Why don't you look for them?

Hi.
Here's my situation...
I'm currently working on an ASP.net application that uses the OWC11 components and I'm putting it on a client's machine that's running Windows Vista. I've been able to upgrade all of my code to work with Vista (MySQL, etc), however, I'm hitting a brick wall with OWC11. Everytime I use the ExportPicture method from the ChartSpace class, I get a blank image on the Vista server. However, I will also mention that the exact same code works perfectly on a server with Windows XP Pro SP2, with the same components installed (.Net 3.0, OWC11, and so on).
I've tried regestering the OWC11.dll file using regsvr32 OWC11.dll on the Vista machine, but that has proven to be of no help to my current situation.
Is there a setting in the IIS Management Console that I'm missing on the Vista computer?
Any suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Mitch F.

Realistically you cannot. Some mail takes days to bounce, and it's not really a sociable thing to do in any case. You'd have to write a mail program to check for bounced mail, and to track what mail you had sent.

You can't. Hashing is a one way encryption. You cannot reverse the process.
The only way to get the plain text back is by brute force. You cycle through all possible passwords until the hash values match up. This is an increadibly expensive operation.

You can't.
You can configure membership to store the passwords using reversible encryption.
Are you implementing a forgotton password feature? There's already a password recovery control that handles this for you.

Hello all,
I have a web application, which I had developed few years ago with ASP .NET 1.1
Today, I would like to deploy the web application to client, using ASP .NET 2.0 + UltiDev Cassini 2.0
I locate my whole project in a folder named C:\website\GOWatch
My setting in UltiDev Cassini 2.0 is as follow :
Application = GoWatch
Port Number = 2040
Physical Path = C:\website\GOWatch
When I try to access an URL http://localhost:2040/DesktopPC/login/Login.aspx (The login.aspx is located physically at C:\website\GOWatch\DesktopPC\login\Login.aspx), I get the following error :
Configuration Error
Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.
Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.

Line 11: </authentication>
Source File: C:\website\GOWatch\desktoppc\login\web.config Line: 9
In my entire application, any sub folder with web.config will have the similar error.
Please take note that, there are NO web.config in C:\website\GOWatch, is this the root cause of the error?
Here is the content of my web.config in C:\website\GOWatch\desktoppc\login\web.config

Hi,
Well, story goes like this: I need mechanism for authentication/authorization for .NET 2.0 based web service. There is a webservice exposing number of methods. I want only authorized users to call its methods. Authorization is done against custom database.
I have very short time - can anybody suggest quick + EASY tutorial / book reference using which I can easily implement the solution? I do not want to send Soap Auth headers/ user name - password with each and every request.

Surely the moment you expose a method that doesn't take the password, anyone can call it, by definition ?
Oh - unless you store authorised IP addresses, I guess.

Hi,
Please let me know how to access a function in user control on my Webpage.
.ascx:
public bool checkValues()
{
....}
how to call it in .aspx page!!!!
Plz let me know.
Many Thanks,
Vijay
|
|
|
|
|
it is simple
you just call user control name (ID) and then method like this :
public partial class WebForm1 : System.Web.UI.Page
{
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
UC1.checkValues();
}
}
|
|
|
|
|
If the user control is placed in the aspx page then you can
controlName.functionName()
when you drag and drop the user control only the html code will get modified automatically(adding the Register directive and user control), not the code-behind file. After adding the control to the page you have to explicitly add the instance of that user control in the code behind(Web Form Designer Generated Code) of the aspx page...
something like this
Protected WithEvents WebUserControl1 As AppName.WebUserControl1
then you will be able to access the function written in the user control...

Thank you for quick reply,
Please let me know in my
.ascx page
<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="My_test.ascx.cs" Inherits="MyControl" %>
.ascx.cs page
public bool checkValues()
{
...
}
How to call it in my Test.aspx.cs page
I have placed
protected System.Web.UI.UserControl My_test; am i doing any thing wrong here in my aspx.cs page
But I can't call the checkValues() in Test.aspx
plz let me know

You have created an Object(User Control) with name My_Test. This is not what I exactly described. you create an instance of that user control you added to the aspx page.
How do we access a function written in a class. we create an instance of that class and call the function with the instance. the user control you created is also a class inherits the base calss UserControl.
ok... there will be a ID for the usercontrol placed in the aspx page right.. and you application will have a NameSpace right...
say for an example ID is "Ucl1" and NameSpace of your Application is "TestApp"
then the statement...
protected TestApp.My_test Ucl1;
Ucl1.checkValues()

Thank U very much, we did not use NameSpaces in our test application. We thought by placing some thing like this we can access it.
protected System.Web.UI.UserControl CaptchaControl;
Now we will place namespaces and test it.
Is there No other way we can access user control functions with out using namespace.?
Thank U.

Vijay
