hi,
can somebody tell me how can i automate the website according to system display settings?
for e.g if i open a website on one system which has resolution setting set to 800 then my website automatically adjusts itself to that resolution. And if i pen the same website on other system with resoltuion of system set to 1024 then my website should get automatically adjusted to that resolution.

You can get the system display settings by using screen.width and screen.height, although I'm not sure if that's what you need.
There's also screen.availWidth and screen.availHeight, which are the available width and height.

I am fetch data from XML File and show that data in GridView. Now when I edit any of the row in a GridView I need to updated row to the same XML File.

Hi ,
I have developed an application wherein the user can upload his photo in a div. The photo is automatically checked and stored using AJAX. I want the user should not be able to do anything else while uploading.Hence i want to gray out all the elements on that page. I thought it would be foolish to disable each item on the page. Is there any method to disable all items on that page all at once?

Hi,
Ive done an application in ASP.Net with C# and data stored in an XML.
In this application, I used XmlMembership Provider class for adding users,Change Password,Delete User into the XML file.
Problem is when i published it in IIS, and tried to add or Delete or Change password,Im getting an error "Cannot Acces File.Because it is being used by another Process".
How to solve this issue?
Anyone Plz help!

You need to give ASPNET NTFS write priviledges. The default is only read. Also, you will have multiple accesses of that file. Thus, you may need to use the cache.

There is a div that displays when you hover over "Espanol".
Why does the div display at the far left of the next line in mozilla and just below the text (Espanol) in IE?
I want it to show up just under the text, espanol. How can I get it to do that?

That is strange advice for a message board... The problem is that I cannot figure this one out on my own. Hence the posting of the question here. No one else seems to know the answer either so I don't feel too bad. Perhaps I will just remove the pop up div.

I am sorry for the strange advice. However, making pages consistent on different web browsers is difficult once you start getting a little fancy. Since I don't have mozilla installed, and I don't have the time actually fix your web page, I referred you the aforementioned web pages. SOLUTION:

Use ul for the absolute positioned content instead of the just a div.
The box models are still inconsistant between browsers with absolute positioned DIVs.
You can still wrap the ul in a wrapper div that has a set width and is positioned absolute so that the ul doesn't get pushed left and down to the next line.

Hi i am developing a web app using asp.net and c#, on a page i have 2 cols of dropdown lists the left filled with player names and right filled with possible heights. when a player is selected theres a postback to find and select the appropriate height for the selected player but the problem is there are 14 players ddls and 14 heights ddls all linked to the same function.
but the problem is if no height is available for the selected player then N/A is selected in the heights ddl and the user can then choose the correct date from the ddl available but when i try to save the players details to the database the event to find the correct height is fired and then players height is reset to N/A... if anyone has an ideas or suggestions i would really appreciate them thanks in advance

Hi,
I am getting the following error:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query.
I know that I need to set permissions on the Access database but can not remember how. Normally I would right click, and click on properties, and select the users and set the permissions, but I reloaded my machine and I can not see those options there.
Please can someone help. I am using classic ASP and Access.

Google this and you'll find pages and pages and pages and whole websites devoted to this crappy Microsoft f***up. Seriously, it is nightmare - I gave up on it ytears ago.
Give up on Access for web applications - it wesn't designed for it. It is a simple, single user desktop database, and that's all. Install MySQL if you want a good, free database and use that instead. You'll save yourself hours of trouble.
Sorry can't be mor help. But your probnlem is more than one of just permissions - it's a nightmare.

Hello friends,
I am developing a login & registration page for a website.
On the login page, i have provided a link for registration page. If the user don't hav username and password for authentication then he/she supposed to register to the website first.
The problem is, control is not transferring to the registration page without authenticating the user i.e i has to authenticate the user first by giving username and password, then only i am able to access Registration page. This is completely wrong logic.
I don't know where the problem is but i am sure it will be a small one. I am also attaching the code of user authentication here.

Hi,
I have a problem uploading excel file with 5MB file size. I am only working first locally in my machine, and I already encountered this problem in uploading.
Is there something that I need to configure in order my uploading program will accept 5MB and even higher?
By the way I am using a FileUpload control

There is a limit placed on this - you can alter it locally, but be aware that if you want eventually to deploy this application on another web-server you will ned to make sure that they too are prepared to do the same - and most ISP's will not.
Note that as well as increasing the max upload size, you (may) also need to increase the executionTimeout as well as the Server.ScriptTimeout settings too...

gives a method that should work on IIS under XP (though I can't say I've tried it)
There are also plenty of 3-rd party components such as

that will allow you upload very large files - they manage to bypass the limit by some software wizardry (read their blurb if you want details...)
Are you sure you want to allow your users to upload files of that size...?

Yes, you're right it's not a good practice allowing unlimited size of excel file to be uploaded.

Hello All,
I have developed script in which I used iframe and getting contents by following:
iframe.contentDocument.body.innerHTML = "str_name";
iframe.contentWindow.document.body.innerHTML = "str_name";
this works fine in IE and mozilla but not in Safari of Mac OS.
so is there any other way to treat with Mac OS

hi,
can anybody pls help me regarding implementing your map image as c#.net 2.0 control.
Actually i've a thailand map( a map image) and i want to allow user to search for a list of hotels, lodges etc.
but the main issue is that i've to allow admin to enter a list of hotels in the database. when the user clicks on hotels link all the admin entered hotels in database should get highlighted with a marker on the map.
I know this facility is available in google map but the issue is that google presents thailand map in thai language and i need thai map in english.
So help reqd urgently.....................
