40, playing games all my life, now an accountant/tech support/macro writer for a construction company.
(Big Lego and Big Mechano!)
Spend loads of time playing when ought to be working, but then I could argue that as I am an efficient worker, I can afford too.
(I could argue that, but it probably isn't true!)

46 and upset that so many interesting games seem to be for game consoles only. My nephews wanted some games and I discovered that some of the older ones, their machine could not handle the newer ones, would not run on XP.
I prefer Myst type games now days, but any Jedi Knight rocks.

Well, I play games on my Playstation 2, PSP and PC, but for the best gaming, I load a ZX Spectrum emulator on my PC or PDA and play Manic Minor or Jet Jac, because the simpliest games are usually the best.

Totally agree, have the Manic Miner emulation, so takes me back 20 something years!
Also...Isn't "The Hobbit" more interesting when it doesn't take 3 minutes to draw each screen?

Always found myself going around in circles with the Hobbit, but having said that, isn't half the fun of the hobbit, watching the screens being drawn?
Other cool speccy games :-
Excelon, and Dark Star and of cause Elite.
Why have they not redeveloped Elite? I'd buy it as long as the game play was the same

They did
'Frontier' was elite 2 (which was really good on the amiga).
Then there was 'First Encounters', which kind of died and was no different to Frontier. You can still get them (and you dont have to pay)
I have a copy of FFE on my PC at the moment.

Maybe you should try X-Universe games by EGOSOFT. Sure, they're not so vast as Elite , but the whole atmosphere is quite the same!

That option should have been there. Especially since out of the 6 text answers so far, 4 of them say 'None' and the others say the same thing in different words.

Hey! Just because you're not sophisticated enough to enjoy the mind boggling gaming possibilities using CListCtrl, don't ruin it for the rest of us! CListCtrl Forever!

Not everyone likes or can afford these gaming gimmicks. They are just waste of time, memory hogging, wallet-fleecing.
I think this survey would just address only a small percentage of users right?

While I am not a gamer that statement is ridiculous. The games industry is bigger (in dollars) than Hollywood ($10 billion the last I read.) Over in the far east it is a huge cultural phenomenon with professional gamers and is recognized as a sport.
Nintendo sell 240,000+ Wiis every month. There are tens of millions of Playstations out there. It is hard to find a household with children in the States or UK that doesn't have some form of games console.
There are bigger things in life but games are not a small percentage of users.

Not only in the UK and in the States, in the rest of Europe it is the same, and I guess also in the rest of the world.
Oh my God! It's an alien invasion!!!

apparently it is the cost of the game consoles & game titles that has been discouraging factor for Most Indians as most of the popular game consoles are not manufactured locally to cut the cost.
Average salary of an Indian professional is about 15k-20k rupees.
PS3 and Xbox 360 comes for around 30k to 40k, i.e. twice the avg monthly salary.
Another mindset of an avg Indian is the "Value of money", that is, If i spend 20k on a device who all will it benifit. So since kids will be using them (most of the time), a 20k "toy" is not realistic for most parents.

Gaming is as valid as any other forms of entertainment like TV/movies/novels. It would be nice though to include a "none" option to see how many people here play games. I suppose it really depends on the age make-up because the younger generation who grew up with relatively sophisticated games is probably more likely to enjoy them to some degree well into adulthood.

My only gameconsole is my computer, but I never use it for games,
so shouldn't there be an option for 'No gameconsole'?
I guess I also could have opted for 'Other', and specified 'None', however I cannot change my vote anymore
