How to find out the installed version of MS Power Point from registry? I am going to build an app in which i have to check out the installed version of the MS power point onthe client machine. How can I do this?

Look in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office and you will see keys something like 10.0, 11.0, etc., along with possibly some others, depending on the Office bundled products you have installed like MS Project, etc.
Enumerate the keys and find the version of office that is installed.
Note - this is not 100% foolproof because there can be more than one Office release installed on the machine.
In that case you don't know which version the user will be using at the time they are using you're application, but it will work most of the time and you can program for the least common denominator or give them an option if there are more than one version of Office installed.

Hey Friends
I have a setup.exe file which can be downloaded from n number of sites.
Now when i run the setup.exe , i need to take different installation procedure depending on from where it was downloaded.
So is it possible to depict a way by which the setup.exe can know from where it was downloaded?
eg
if setup.exe was downloaded from www.abc.com
setup.exe needs to display a message hello abc.com
i can display a message but do not know from where it was downloaded.
programs accept command line parameters , may be something like this
or may be something on similar lines?

It sounds like you're looking for some type of branded (or co-branded) installer. One option would be to create a different installer for each branding. You would use the same installer project and either include different graphics or other resources based on a parameter read by the installer compiler.

Using the process I described in my other reply, you could automate this as part of your build process.

Once the file is downloaded, it's just a file. There is nothing that tells where the file came from.
If you want any information about where the file came from, you have to include it in the file itself.

Hello! Brace yourself to build a crawler from scratch. you feed the crawler with parameters [search parameters]and it does the rest.For you to dothis you will need to program in Perl, Python and know lots of PHP and MySQL. The core of the search is the crawler; make a good one! All the best.

I have a web site based that I redirect subdomins to user files with this code:

I would like to change this over to looking up in a database to get the "username" and the redirect string. But I worry it will take more time then parsing a file.
This file contains about 100 people with redirect statements in them.
Any suggestions?

Hello, there,
I have a question about Master page of web application in SharePoint _layout folder. I can create a web application in the layout folder and have access to SharePoint Object Model. However I cannot use Master page for my web application. I tried to copy SharePoint default.master to my working folder and put the content of my page into content holder. When I load the page, I got a SharePoint error. Also I tried to use a most simple master page and content page,I still got the same error.
My question is how I can use Master page for the web application in the layout folder? Anything that I need to modify?
Also how can I use the most recent default.Master in my web application to keep my web application always has the same style as other pages in the SharePoint.
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

I got a page where a user can view meeting attendance / per year
The user can select to view multiple years at the time, etc 2006,2007
The problem is that the calculation for total attendance % is wrong if any of the meetings has 0 attendance on the meeting.

The problem is here
<%=round(ackumulated_sum_dict(yearItem)/ (ubound(monthArray)+1),2) %>what it does is for example :
100 / 15
where 15 is the total meetings and 100 is the total attendings
even if any of th meetings has 0 attendings it takes that meeting into the calculation .. i dont want that to happen.
