Hi,

I have a BYTE pointer it contains the values that i have read from a jpeg file. how can i convert it in to a BYTE pointer of grayscale image.

Take a look in the forum using search. There is a formule to convert RGB into grayscale. Take the value of the RGB byte, use the formule and send it to your grayscale one.

I dont have used dotnet yet, but I prefer VC++ to VB because in VC++ you can be "more or less" sure about what you are programming. VB is "easy" to code, but the final result has differences with the start code because of the translations of compiler (at last... the VB compiler translates to make the code understandable for the mashine)

VC++ produces native code.

every .NET languages generate MSIL, which targets only the .NET framework, such as Java does with its byte Code and JRE...

You cant compare Vc++ with vb or donet,or other languagges together each language has its advantage for example C++ is difficult than vb++ but you cant say so vb is better or vice versa or other example: on the vb you have procedure and function but on the c++ you have only function.
I guess you want to start to learning a language,right?

VC++ is also the only language that lets you produce both native and
CLR code in the same module.

And yes, you can't compare vc++ to "dotnet".

Hi all,

The following code snippet will insert a row above the first empty row, and then copy the other row contents to the newly inserted row. The problem is when the last line was invoked the value "ASDF" applies to the entire row instead of only the first cell. How can I set value to specific cell in the newly inserted row?

range = oSheet.get_Range("A1", Missing.Value);
range = range.get_End(Excel.XlDirection.xlDown).get_Offset(1, 0);

range.EntireRow.Insert(Excel.XlInsertShiftDirection.xlShiftDown, Excel.XlInsertFormatOrigin.xlFormatFromLeftOrAbove);

Hi i am not comfortable with C# code.
I have done lot of XL automation and VSTO with vb.net

range.Cells.get_Offset(0, 0).set_Value(Missing.Value, "ASDF");
try using 1,1 instead of 0,0

I actually didnt understand the above part...
But below solution can be helpful

or use at last again
range = oSheet.get_Range("A1", Missing.Value);
range.setValue = "ASDF"
or
range.value = "ASDF" (as it comes in VB.net)

char buffer question

Hi all,

I'm busy copying the value of an AnsiString variable into a char buffer that has a size of 20.

char Buf[20]={0};
AnsiString DataString;
...
/* I then copy two zeros in front of it */
strcpy(coidBuf, "00");
...
/* I then add the value to the buffer */
strcat(Buf, DataString.c_str());
...

An example of the output:
Buf: char [20] :0939E9BC : "00260026 " = size equals 22
PS. For some or other reason the actual size does not display when I post it...

So my question is how is it possible to add to the char buffer that is only 20 long but when I inspect the value it is 22 long ?? Confused | :confused:

use strncpy() and restrict it to 20 characters. then, force the last char of the buffer to be a '\0'

\\systemname\\$c it ask for password and username even I enter right username and password of other system it dos not show c drive the popup window pops again and again ?
