Get a list of "Open with" applications like in Windows Explorer?

When right-clicking a file in Windows Explorer, e.g. a JPEG image, a list of possible applications is presented ("Open with" submenu).

Is it possible for my application to read this list for a certain file type, too?

I tried several different ways like the registry etc. but found no suitable way.

The registry is where they come from, although I've never looked at how to do it.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg\Default is jpegfile.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell\open\command seems to show the default open behaviour
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVErsion\Explorer\FileExts\.jpeg\OpenWithList seems to contain the list of programs that can open a JPEG.

Yeah, I would hope there was a shell method you could p/invoke, but what I sent was just what I could find by digging around a little.

Hi All,

I am developing a Windows Forms 2.0 application. I have some questions on the DataGridView.

I have two Datagridviews on the form which I have populated from the the database tables customer_group, and group using the datasource wizard. The table group for the gridview contains columns GroupID int and Name varchar datatypes and the table customer_group contains customerID int, GroupID int, memberNumber int. I have a Cell_Click event on the first gridview and when I click on the button in the first gridview it should add the particular row into the second gridview which is customer_gridview. but it gives me the following error.

"Input string was not in a correct format"

Could you please give me some idea and some code examples. I really appreciate your help.

Here is the Cell_Clickevent

I am not asking for some cheats, its just that I need to know exactly which areas does this certification emphasizes on. I dont know much about this one except that it is related to windows programming. I just need some study material so that I can improve on the areas where I am weak.

When I am serializing a class Contrains only static variables by creating instance. the static variables are not serializing. is there any way to save the satatic variables ?

I just checked ( because someone asked this in the last day, and I wanted to see if it was you ), you know you've never once responded to anyone who helps you ?

Serialisation saves a class instance, by definition it does not store static variables. You'd need to create instance variables and populate them before serialising and move them to the static values after reloading.

Hi,
I need some guidance here Smile | :)

.
I have created a windows App that will display all the details regadring my internet connections in text boxes.
For example i have three connections.They are displayed in a listbox.
When i select any one of them, their details SubnetMAsk,DNS1,Dns2 etc will be displayed in the text boxes.Everything works fine till here. Smile | :)

But now my problem starts.
I want this detils to be applied to my computer so that i can switch my internet connections when i click on a button "Switch".
I have no idea how to do this.Any guidance or links will be most welcome.

Application.StartupPath will give you the path without the exe name, I forget the Application. property that gives you the full path

Question 5 is ridiculous. Is it right based on what criteria ? What is your concern ? Do you want to move a project or just start using 2008 ?

2 questions that make no sense, and 3 that were answered in seconds by google ( well, one was so easy I just answered it, but google would have too ). Hardly 'unsolvable'.
