Here is a clue.
Try both of these queries:
<br />
declare @x datetime<br />
set @x= convert(datetime ,'01/01/1428',131)<br />
print @x <br />
<br />
print convert(datetime ,'01/19/2007',101)<br />

You can use the system-function GetDate() in your SQL statements to get the current date and time.

I am an oldy trying out some stuff with VB.net - Access coding. My code is almost complete; however, I am having an error populating a charater field. There are five fields in the table seasonNo [integer], sYear [integer], seasObs [double], seasSim [double], and season [char]. In the season field I want to write season of the year. However, with the code below if I replace 1 (last field in cmd line) with sea(im) or eg. "winter", the command gives error. There is no error if it is 1. Any help to remove the error will be greatly appreciated.
Dim sea() As String = {"Winter", "Spring", "Summar", "Fall"}
For ir = 0 To ty - 1
imYear = minYear + ir
For im = 1 To 4
cmd = "insert into seasonSummary VALUES (" & im & " , " & imYear " , " seasObs(im, ir) & " , " & seasSim(im, ir) & " , " & 1 & ")"
dbCmd = New OleDbCommand(cmd, myConnection)
dbCmd.ExecuteScalar()
Next

What's the structure of the seasonSummary table? What's the error message you get?

Glad you liked it,
That was a bit impatient of me - it's just the "give it to me" attitude that I get really irritated with.

It's a shame that I can't top Guy's answer. It is superb and gets to the point quickly and efficiently, when you have a question ask it politely.

I'm glad that you created three tables - it shows that you are a better carpenter than a coder. Perhaps you'd like to stay in that line.
Dhilipkumar wrote: i need to join the three tables
You might want to consider just pushing them together. That's what we will be doing at Christmas to make room for everybody.

You need a basic SQL reference manual. Perhaps O'Reilly's SQL Cookbook[^] would help you.
I could post a sample query but I really don't think you'd understand it, and the time and space to explain it isn't suitable for this forum.

hi
i have a table that store applicant with their mark.
i want to get their grad in a query.
should i use a function and call for any applicant?
also if two applicant have same mark they must have same grade.

You need to decide whether the Grade is something an Applicant has, or not.
I suggest an Applicant has a Mark, and the Grade is calculated from the Mark. So your Applicant business object would have a Grade property that returns something based on the Mark.

thank.
you are right.
but in my database
how i calculate the grade.
i want to know if i can calculate all grade in one function or i must call a function instated of grade in my query so for each row the function is called again?

You could use a computed column on the table for a quick and easy database solution. Or you could just stick an extra property on your business objects.
The important thing to realise is that theres no real need to _store_ the Grade anywhere - because its easy to calculate.

thanks.i know your mean.
but how i calculate the grade?

Thats your algorithm, its really up to you. In Australia we say a High Distinction as above 85%, Distinction 75-85 etc etc.
You'll need to ask your client for this one.

I thought I'd post this, just in case anyone is struggling to get Entity Framework Beta 3 working in 64-Bit environments.
Microsoft's line is that the design time EF Beta 3 is not supported officially, yet, on x64 platforms. This leads to all manner of billy, including the csdl, msdl and ssdl mapping files not being generated.
The work around is incredibly simple:
Copy:
Microsoft.Data.Entity.Build.Tasks.dll
Microsoft.Data.Entity.targets
from %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.5 to %windir\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5
and then rebuild the project (F6).

Hi All,
I am using SSRS2005 to generate the report. I have used Date Picker control. Date picker is working at runtime when I run directly, i.e. http//server ip/reports. But, When I call this report in VS 2005 (C# with ASP .Net 2.0) with Forms Authentication, date picker control refreshes the page and not working.
!!Any Help Please!!
