I am still having a problem showing a new window with javascript. When a user clicks a linkbutton on my page, it should show BalanceReport.aspx with the accompanying parameters, instead it does nothing. It always works on my system (naturally), it always works on another users' system, and it never works on yet another users' system. In the Page_Load event I do some database stored procedure calls and fill a stringbuilder with HTML that is sent to the page in an asp:Literal control. That seems to work. Javascript is enabled on our browsers (IE6 xpSp2). There are no popup blockers on the suspect system, and other window.opens work. I am unsure where to look next.
This link works:
const string cOnClientClickTemplate = "javascript:window.open('ClaimPopup.aspx?CompPK={0}&ProviderName={1}&FundType={2}',";
const string cPopupDialogArgs = "'newWindow','width=500,height=450');return false;";
NewDiscClaim.OnClientClick = String.Format(cOnClientClickTemplate, ViewState["CompPK"].ToString (), ViewState["ProviderName"].ToString(), "disc") + cPopupDialogArgs;
This link does not work:
const string cOnClientClickReportTemplate = "javascript:window.open('BalanceReport.aspx?CompPK={0}',";
const string cReportDialogArgs = "'newWindow','width=800,height=800,resizable=yes, menubar=yes,toolbar=yes');return false;";
lbtnReport.OnClientClick = String.Format(cOnClientClickReportTemplate, ViewState["CompPK"].ToString()) + cReportDialogArgs;
Any ideas? Thanks.
Someone's gotta be the last to know, but why is it always me?

Hi,
I am using following code for modalbox.

I doubt it. The idea of a modal dialog is to force the user to interact with that dialog and prevent interaction with any other component or window until the modal is closed. You may need to ask why you want to show 2 modals simultaneously and find a more useable alternative. Maybe make the modal window follow a wizard model.

One modal dialog is one modal dialog too many. What do you think two would be?
...ask yourself this: have you ever been browsing the web and stopped to think, "Hey, this is all just too easy - what i need right now is at least one dialog box that prevents me from navigating until i make it go away!"

Weird. The user has to dispose a modal dialog to proceed with any operation. Two concurrent modal dialogs would be a wild goose chase or impossible.

Did you recieve any error?

You can not do that in ASP.NET. You may like to have a Windows Service to do that for you.

I think you are missing SmtpServer . I don't see you have specified that.

HI,
Could anyone tell me the differences between using Ajax and javascript? I know that Ajax is built on top of javascript and Ajax is used for asynchronous calls. But all the backend process of Ajax are done using javascript. So what is the difference? Even though I googled the query, I didn't get a proper reply for the same.
Thanks,

You've just explained the difference. Ajax is a word that describes using JavaScript asynchronously, typically with unnecessary special effects.

You have a Javascript in the word AJAX itself.

Hi All.
Hope you would be able to help me, we have a site that has always worked without a hitch, and yesterday all the sites on our webserver went down. When I connected to the server and opened task manager I found the culprit, a process named DLLHosts.exe, so after bouncing the server 50 times, running virus scans and reg checks I finally decided to stop all sites and start them one by one. All started fine except for this one site, the moment it started the server cpu usage shot to 100%, causing all the other sites to time out and not display and the process DLLHosts.exe taking up all the cpu time. If I stop that site every mellowed down and the other sites started responding again and cpu usage dropping to 50%.
As I mentioned the site has been working fine and no updates were made to the site.
Has anyone here experienced something similar or have a possible solution.
Thanks in advance

Hi all,
I've created an emailer using Server.CreateObject(CDO.Message)
The emailing part is working fine but I'm trying to get it to take an attachment from the users local drive along with it. When I try to upload something it just sends with a "noname" file.
Is it possible? Heres what I'm working with. Help would be great, Thanks.
<%
Set objMessage = Server.CreateObject("CDO.Message")
objMessage.Subject = Request.form("subject")
objMessage.From = ""
objMessage.To = ""
objMessage.TextBody = ""
objMessage.AddAttachment Request.form("attch")

'==This section provides the configuration information for the remote SMTP server.
<smtp details removed>
'==End remote SMTP server configuration section==

objMessage.Send

%>

For some reason, The flash element on my site is affected when I hover over menu items (animated by DHTML)
The flash element is totally separated from the menu items...I mean, the menu items are not inside the flash element, they are different objects.
The site in question is http://www.namotuislandfiji.com
I believe the problem may lie in the z-indexing of things... but it only goes wonky on Apple/Firfox. Safari is fine, all browsers on PC are fine. Of course my client uses Apple with Firefox.
I have recently put the flash object on a frmaed page to see if it made a difference, but no...
The problem is located towards the bottom area of the flash display when you hover over some of the menu items.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
Much appreciated

Hello.
I hope this is the right place to post this kind of question...
I am trying to create a C# client and a PHP server communicating with each other using SOAP. I have written a WSDL file (a type of XML) to describe the SOAP envelope transmitted between the two applications.
My problem is that I need to send to the client an object which contains several strings and another object which contains error and warning messages (3 strings) and I have no idea how to create a type in the WSDL that holds both objects. You probably want to know why I don't merge the two objects... I can't because in some situations the first object can be an array of objects...
Here is the type definition for a simple function (this works):
<xsd:element name="EndAuctionResponseItem">
<xsd:complexType>
<xsd:sequence>
<xsd:element name="Status" type="xsd:string"/>
<xsd:element name="Warning" type="xsd:string"/>
<xsd:element name="ErrorMessage" type="xsd:string"/>
<xsd:element name="EndTime" type="xsd:string"/>
</xsd:sequence>
</xsd:complexType>
</xsd:element>
Here is what I'm trying to obtain:
<xsd:element name="AuctionStatusItem">
<xsd:complexType>
<xsd:sequence>
<xsd:element name="Status" type="xsd:string"/>
<xsd:element name="Warning" type="xsd:string"/>
<xsd:element name="Error" type="xsd:string"/>
</xsd:sequence>
</xsd:complexType>
</xsd:element>
<xsd:element name="EndAuctionResponseItem">
<xsd:complexType>
<xsd:sequence>
<xsd:element name="Status" type="typens:AuctionStatusItem"/>
<xsd:element name="EndTime" type="xsd:string"/>
</xsd:sequence>
</xsd:complexType>
</xsd:element>
It seems that I'm making a mistake by declaring the type of the "Status" field as "AuctionStatusItem"
I will be grateful if anybody can help me. I've been searching for a fix to this problem for days now... I'm a noob at XML's and I don't fully understand the complex type definitions yet...
Thank you,
Michael

It seems that I can do something like this:
<xsd:element name="EndAuctionResponseItem">
<xsd:complexType>
<xsd:sequence>
<xsd:element ref="typens:AuctionStatusItem"/>
<xsd:element name="EndTime" type="xsd:string"/>
</xsd:sequence>
</xsd:complexType>
</xsd:element>
This works only if the "EndTime" element is simple type. If I replace it with an array (this is my actual goal), unfortunately, C# won't deserialize it
I even tried to create another element which contains the array and reference it in the "EndAuctionResponseItem" but still no luck. I used MS Soap toolkit 3.0 to look inside the SOAP envelope and everything seems OK... PHP sends the right construct I guess... (a complex array which contains 2 arrays: one composed of the 3 strings from "AuctionStatusItem" and another composed of the "typens:AuctionStatusItem" objects).
Please, somebody help... I'm running out of ideas...
