I'm a beginner in ASP.NET and want to know how to use webclient class and using it how to get data from any website.
I want to build a module which fetches all the url given on any website's page and then store those url in a database.
For doing so i need to crawl the whole page and check for url in the page and then store it in a database.
Please help me with this..
which stream i need to use openread or openwrite...??

Hi,
Pls how do I link my web application to receive input from a bar code reader.
I want to read serial numbers of items in stock then display it and store it inside my sqldatabase.

I have developed a web service, there are few methods which mostly take the xml string as input and gives the XML string as out put. I would like to check the functionality of the web method. By giving some sample xml strings in it.

I have a gridview that is being dynamically bound to a generic list. To add a blank row I am re-querying the DB and inserting a new, empty, generic object to the list. Now, once I have the new blank row displayed in the gridview, how do I allow for users to add data to the new row?

How would I best handle errors in a basic data capture and viewing web application? I'm looking at using different View objects, and if an error occurs when, e.g. inserting a new record, I activate the 'error view', and display and error message. If the insert succeeds, I activate the 'confirm view', and show a success message, etc.
Is there an established pattern for such error handling in ASP.NET?

I used to create a HTTP handler and handle Application_Error. It works pretty well here.

to assign value into label lblFirstName:

when going to next page in grid view through paging then above not working.

You could put it in Page_Init or in another event for another control

You can add it in any event before the viewstate is saved. OnInit will be good place.

Hi All, I am got a big problem. Looking for a help. I am working in asp.net 2.0 and using crystal report. What is happing when I am tying to export japeness character or chainess into pdf it is coming as junk characters. Not displaying in properly...Please help me out. I can see these characters in report viewer correctly but when exporting...not able to do it....

Hi,
I have a problem with me..in my project there is one custom wizard ..there is some steps in the leftside and collection of question and controls for each step.in other side.in that some fields may be compulsary for that i used required field validators ..
The actual problem is that supose i am in 4 th step..in that one field is required field validtor if i click in to 3 rd step i have to go in to that step without filling the compulsary field..
i make causes validation property of that step in to false.......but if the focus is on that control i want to click 2 times to go into previous step....can anybody have a solution or suggestions for this..help me...
