Thanks Simon!
For built-in type like string and int, I think they implements IComparable already, but for a customized class like Foo in my sample, there is no default implementation for IComparable? Correct?
regards,
George

Yes, that is correct. You need to implement IComparable or create your own IComparer.

Thanks leppie,
I have did more study.
1.
I think Default.Compare method will convert current instance to IComparable and call IComparable.Compare?
2.
A customized class is not implementing IComparable as default?

George

From the enterprise manager you can use the export data utility to do that.

Thucnv,
Don't you know how to use the export data utility in SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Manager?
if it's from a web page you should read this.[^]
If from your application, can't put something up for you now. You'll have to google that.
Good luck.

No, the idea is YOU write the code, and if it doesn't work someone helps sort the problem out. Many of the people who contribute on here are professional coders (some, not all!) and as such do NOT have the time or inclination to do students work for them.
So, get off your backside and write your own code and when it fails, post it with the error message.

If you want to show some data in tree view we can use ‘TreeView’ control and it should be enough to fulfill need.
In case if you need something different, please clarify what kind of interface is required.

Hi,
Thanks for your response, I don't think that a treeview will work, cause see, unlike a treeview a family tree has 'branches' stretching left and right, thus a treeview will not work.
Ajay K. Singh wrote: please clarify what kind of interface is required
One that can slit out 'branches the left and right of the root item.
Makes sense ??

Yes I agree that tree view control is not very suitable for this requirement, however you may try to find some third party control for this purpose.
I searched for ‘family tree+c#’ on Google and found that many such components are available.
Therefore you may check any of them.

A treeview could work (although not very elegant). A family tree is really a treeview rotated 90 degrees right and each child/group of children are centre aligned instead of right aligned (top aligned vertically before rotation).
I can't imagine it being that hard to develop a custom control to do this yourself though.

There are commercial products our there that provide a .NET wrapper to the IE extensibility layer try here[^]. If you google around, maybe there are opensource/free alternatives.
The IE extensibility layer is normally used via c/c++ though. MSDN Guide[^]
