If you want to do it on the server side, then you'll need to have an id and a runat="server" in your div tag and then you can simply access the style of the div and set it to display:none.

actually right now I am using RequireField Validator with text box for some fields and in submit button showing errors using ValidationSummary control.
now I want to give validation in DropDownList also like - I want to check whether user has been selected 0 or other value from DropDownList .
so now how to do it?

you can use requiredfield validator with dropdown control same like you use with textbox.
i think you have to set the initial value property for the validator control extra than the what you set for textbox

my problem is as below:-
Hello people,
I need some help from you,plz try to solve our problem..the problem is as follows
currently we are working on asp.net2.0 as front end and sql server 2000 as backend developin erp system modules(Web application) for the company,one module is almost finished,now i m tryin to deploy it.
so i tried doin that with small web application(example) of just addin one record to database and tried to deploy that
i finished the deployment process as such
right click on solution explorer
add new project then websetup click ok
after that
right click on websetup add project output
in project output dialog box u can only see content files after that click ok
so content files get added to ur website1
after that right click on website one and click build build succeded then right click on website1
and click install
installation finished
.exe file and msi file got created now when i tried to run this website1 on internet explorer i got one error msg in that local internet explorer window
which was as follows
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

i dont know the followig concept of local server,
means later on if we put this application on server and its database too...then how to access it from remote pcs??is there any need that remote pcs shud have asp.net installed ??or sqlserver please tell me how to do this cz this is the main concept and i have to know this i tried our level best to deploy our site(small web application as told u before)but wasnt possible for us..so plese try to solve our problem.

An asp net application is a web application, which runs on a web server. Your users do not need anything more complicated than a web browser to use an asp.net application.
I suggest you do some research on deploying web applications before going any further. There are plenty of articles around if you google.

hey two things i know at my level from ur blog.........
1. u getting unauthrised user as error means ur aspnet (iis user) dont have access to database. add user in ur database access list. u can do this by getting articles on google just right these specific keywords u will get steps how to do that.
2. u r little confused in running this application remotly .......it just require a network connection between computer on which u want to open remotly with the server on which application installed ................
eg :- http://ip of server/application folder name/pagename.aspx

i have another options check this out.
create a virtual directory in iis and named that directory xxxx and include the directory of ur webproject which is not precomplied, and set the default page in the properties also check the connection string.after that in the internet explorer type this address http://localhost/xxxx
u will get ur pages

Here are my findings:-
Following is the line on which error comes.
Line 1 --> SendJobTreeMessage(this,new JobTreeCommunicatorEventArgs(JobTreeCommandType.SaveJobTree);
//SendJobTreeMessage is my generic event handler

i m getting error on the line 1 as "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
Following possibility might be the cause of error:-
1. “this” object is not properly created or gets vanished after the page is successfully processed.
2. new JobTreeCommunicatorEventArgs(JobTreeCommandType.SaveJobTree) is not creating a object.
3. “SendJobTreeMessage” -> Handler is not properly registered or configured.
Anaysis :-
1. I checked thoroughly while debugging but I couldn’t found any code where “this” object is nullified and also that is not possible. Before coming to this line “SendJobTreeMessage…” I checked “this” Object by fetching its value in the Immediate window. So from my view this shouldn’t be the possibility.
2. Object of JobTreeCommunicatorEventArgs class is created sucessfully as I did that by making its object in separate line like
JobTreeCommunicatorEventArgs abc=new JobTreeCommunicatorEventArgs(JobTreeCommandType.SaveJobTree;
I found no error while its creation and verified it by getting its value in Immediate Window. This one is also rejected.
3. Now comes the handler problem either it is not configured or registered properly. Configuration or Registration point is also not the problem behind that.
I checked the handler definition. It’s same as that is mentioned in other pages like JobCategoryAddEdit.ascx.cs and there is no problem in its functionality.
If that would be the point of error then same error would also come in those pages also.

Hi,
I need to develop a paging control which will work for gridview and listview. Which show paging like First Prev 1 2 3 4 5 6 of 1 page of 6 Next Last
1 2 3 4 will be shown in css style . Can anyone help me how can I made such a custom paging which will work for both gridview or listview.

Why would you use a grid view, and do your own paging, when it is built in ? Why not use something simple like a repeater, that gives you full control over the layout, if you want to take over the paging ?
In any case, what you basically need to render this, is to know what the current page number is, and how many pages there are. Then you need to create links for the numbers that either postback a value, or put it on the URL, so you know what page to navigate to. I'd write a proc that gives me the current page and the number of pages, so you can just ask for the data you want to display and plug the other info into your pager.

if you are assigning it data from database then when you are binding you can change the format like this. DateTime.ToString("dd MMM, yyyy HH:mm:ss");
