Oh, by the way, I'm aware of DeliveryNotificationOptions but it's not what I'm looking for, I want to get a notification (not an email) that I can use to update the flag in my database. Well, it seems that it's not possible but would anybody confirm that? Thanks.

A good suggestion is to pick up a primer book on ASP.Net, probably one the targets the framework your going to use (2.0++).
However, this is not really an ASP.Net specific question, more along the lines of html/css.
Depending on how your site design will be, will dictate how large (wide) your graphic can be. If you're making your site scale to N% screen resolution, you could *safely make your graphic 800px wide and fit into 98% of screen resolutions for modern, non-palm type devices.
A smaller graphic, that bleeds into a background color or gradient is a safer way to go in any event. using % instead of pixels is much more flexible.
To answer the latter part of your question, this depends on how your going to model your site, but still goes back to css/html.
An example of the css might look like this:
#HeadLogo {
background: #ffffff url(images/logo.jpg) left top no-repeat;
width:100%;
height:125px;
}
In the html, you would have a div /layer block that would inherit the css element you defined with the #
< div id='HeaderLogo' >
< /div >
Assuming your graphic is 200x125 it will show up in the left top corner of the div, filling it to the bottom and the rest of the space would be white.

I am building a website with HTTPHandler that handles requests and returns a "text/html" response to the client, the response might be in any language (English, Spanish, Arabic, Indian, etc.).
The response that I create will be embedded inside web pages hosted by other websites and those websites will be having different encoding schemes for their pages.
my problem is that I don't know how to return a response that is encoded with the same encoding scheme as the web-page that will be embedding the response.
I am doing something like this ( I don't know if there is a better way):
1. I have a HttpHandler that handles ".jpg" requests.
2. A user of www.somewebsite.com creates a new topic in the forum, so he uses the image tag to load my text [img]www.mywebsite.com/file.jpg[/img]
3. My website parses the request BUT instead of returning "image/jpeg" response it returns "text/html" response [Don't know what encoding type to use for it]
4. in the forum topic, instead of an image being displayed it will display my html response which might have different encoding than the web page itself, which is the problem.
any ideas on solving this problem or doing it in a better way?

It's not encoding, it's content type. Set the content type of response from HTTPHandler to "image/jpeg"

as I wrote in the question, although the request is an image request, the response is "text/html" response, I am not sending any image files. The text will display correctly only if the encoding I use in the response matches the encoding of the web-page that receives the html response.

Hi,
I am working on a website where i am creating Horizontal Menus Dynamically from database as per rights available to the user. I have several UserControls. And the Menu control also brings UserControl's URL stored in Database while Page load.
There is a TabContainer control below the Menu Control.
Now i want to add corresponding UserControl dynamically when user click on any MenuItem. also want to load data while UserControl loaded.
Page PostBack is the enemy of all Web Developers... and so is mine..
I don't want to load all userControls again, everytime the user clicks any MenuItem(add any UserControl). as the Application is very much data driven, loading heavy data again and again would not be the greatway to deal with.
Only the slected usercontrol should be added and it should not effect any other things on page like Windows TabControl.
I know it's not at all a easy thing but it is possible.. i m refering a lots of things but still

Hai,
I have to develop on Mail sending Application using ASP.Net and C#.Net 2005 and database is MySql.The concept is as follows:
I have my own webspace and I need to run this application on my website. There will be database contains some few number of tables containing email ids in several category. For example, there are tables named Student,Managers,Programmers,.... In these tables releated field peoples maild id with their name will be stored. In my application there will be combo box which contains the database table name.
I just login to my website and attach the attachment file with the mail which is stored in the website itself and select the table name from the combobox. The email ids to which the mails have to send will be automatically selected regarding to the table name selected in the combobox.
And click the send button to send the mails with attachment with particular time interval between the mails.
Then I logoff from my website and shutdown my system.
The main concept of this appliation is that for sending mails the application should not use my bandwidth and it should use the bandwidth of webhosters where I had purchased my webspace.
I have doubts in using mailclasses and mailserver. What mailclass and mailserver I have to use.
So please guide me to develop this application.

Well, that's impossible. You have to use your own bandwidth to upload an attachment from your PC. If you don't know that, you need to get to basics, and do some reading before you try anything like this.

I think U had not understand my question. I know that for uploading the attachment it will take my bandwidth.
Here I am discussing about after attachment I will click the send button to send that mail to few peoples and logout from the website.
At this time what will happen to the mails. Either it will keep on sending mails or it goes for stand by mode.

Hello Friend
I have faced a problem in SQL Server
I have a stored procedure which works as follows
Declare @Id int
Select @id=max(id) from emp
Set @id=@id+1
update emp Set id=@id
return @id
Now, we call this stored procedure from our ASP.net application. It is working perfecly in single user environment,
but the problem is that when we are working in multi-user environment some time the procedure returns same id instead of unique id.
How can I solve it, so that every time the procedure returns unique value for each user.
Is there any technique to execute this stored procedure in queue.

how i asign the value to columnspan property like this
i have two numbers for suppose start_cell_number and end_cell_number i have to merge these cells into one cell.
for example cell number 4 to 8 i have merge into one cells i mean i have to assign cell.columnspan ="1" Dynamically how i do that .
any hint or suggestion is highly apperciated

it is actually server side table . i have used table control for displaying data from database visually .
i have start_cell_number and end_cell_number for suppose 8 to 12 i have to merge as one cell.
in a row i have 32 cells from 0 to 31 .
hope now its clear to you please give me hint how i do that .
i have used this cell.columnspan="how i assign such a value that merge above figures as a one cell"
